just remembered something on my todo list, and that was a menorah hat.
mostly because i am so tired of christmas being everywhere. could also do a dreidel.
-- anyways, that was because hanukkah is closest to christmas, so it's treated as an important holiday, but it's actually a minor holiday.

Filet it right and you (almost) never have to worry about the bones.

~I don't mind small bones myself. Then again I'm used to canned fish so...~

Anyone want my stuff?

I like canned fish too and get annoyed that so many are skinless and boneless when I prefer that they be included.

~Good luck.

Skinless and boneless? Glad I haven't run into any fish like that. Well canned fish. I feel you I enjoy it myself.~

I have some smoked mackerel with skin and bones, but to be honest I'd prefer if it was sold without either. Especially small fish bones are tedious to pick out (I hate the feeling in my throat when accidentially swallowing a small one). Still, delicious fish.

Low-quality canned tuna sucks because you’re not expecting bones, but… suddenly there are bones. Quality control on that batch must have been a little wonky. I’ve been stuck in AZ for a while and really miss seafood. Patching up the hole in my foodie heart w tins of sardines, smoked herring, and smoked oysters, as well as tuna packs.

Accidentally left a tin at my parents’ place once, and my dad decided to try it one day and cracked it open, and immediately went (in Mandarin): “what the heck, that smells *extremely* fishy [in a bad way]”.

We’ve decided that most of the US just doesn’t know how to properly do seafood.

Quality varies quite a bit between US brands. There are some good ones, though. But definitely not top tier like you might find elsewhere, like Mediterranean ones. I like to try fancy or unique canned fish, but have been needing to hold off for now. But there's a bunch of French ones I've been wanting to try that have some interesting flavors. And some unfamiliar fish varieties I'd like to try.

I'm not sure I've seen seafood at all at the campus cafeteria this semester, besides yesterday's clam chowder, which was really more... baked potato chowder w a bit of clam.

TBH, even if I was able to consistently get my hands on seafood... I'm not sure I'd trust it, as I'm currently in Arizona.

seafood here is usually halfway decent. just don't go over to one of the fish and chip places, there's at least one report (from my poor brother, of all people) of maggots in their seafood.
