...is anyone free for me to ask questions about characters I am working on? Unfortunately, several ideas I have touch touchy topics, and I don't want to write them out badly. I also want to try to avoid 1-note characters and things like that.

I'm not sure if I'm the person to ask, I don't know if my characters are not like that. Though Gall does like my fox demon character, no idea why. o.O I think he's soon a lot of over rated ones or ones that were kind of a rip off of like Naruto or something. :/

Well...an Greco-African...

(or the equivalent, as this is an alternate world. Example: pheomelanin, responsible for freckles and red pigment in skin, can't exist because the planet lacks sulfur - most things requiring sulfur have been replaced with the less stable selenium...down to the DNA...which is used to explain the ability to shapeshift, which is usually both painful, time consuming, and runs a high risk of becoming disabled mentally or physically. Everyone has the potential, but it is largely regulated/taboo due to the effects...and is an excellent nightmare for the common folk to run across a substance that could cause them to change...)

...servant/overseer with the Dark Triad/Tetrad of personality traits (Narcissism, Machiavellianism, Psychopathy, and Sadism) who uses her fellow servants (to the point where she is given the name of a great monster), to gain influence/power and respect from their lord...launches a program to train others in assassination...inflicts psychological terror on multiple protagonists...winds up with power over the lord...kills him and his wife (along with the fiance of a main character) while they are on a diplomatic mission...before the grieving character puts a blade through them.

The ideas I am trying to express are the personality traits themselves, as well as the concept of a person inflicting others with pain only so they can gain power and control of them. As for why "Greco-African" - this character is based on a character from a game with Dark Elves, and one of the main cultures here is a sort of Greece-Egypt land.

Other characters include: A Leonardo da Vinci-like scholar who, before an incident of shapeshifting, was going to be the "medicine man" of his tribe. (Body dysphoria & Natural Philosophy)...a woman, child of the "Pharaoh," who broke traditions to save her brother...an "undead" monster made of mold (going off of the idea that we all have certain things that can drive us insane under exposure to certain environmental problems...it is the "something in the water" or the "lead drinks drank by early rulers")...a mute "wild" child and efforts to allow them some semblance of normality...a "gypsy"...Gwion (A much darker take on the origins of Taliesin, highly cynical but not without redeeming qualities...a bard and assassin)...A transgendered "fox" and two pirates based on the relationship between 3 Chinese pirates in history...a jolly "necromancer" who is more of a doctor/mortician (because most "necromancers" were the ones who prepared bodies for the afterlife, not those who brought the dead back to life. Closest thing was spirit mediumship)...Greek Heroes cursed to appear as undead...

While not gory, this is intended to touch several ideas gradually.

Hm...With her training assassins there's a chance of her getting off by one of her own. I would add into that bundle for her that she doesn't trust people, even more so with all these mental issues she has. It would make her seem more real, even more so if she's cunning enough to get all those people killed and rule over them with fear for so long before getting killed.

Give her a damaged child that she cares for in a sane and normal manner, and would kill to protect?

Not sure it can be fully normal, but there can be a major protection thing, there, especially in the beginning.

Imagine a little kid with their favorite toy. They'll pamper it and protect it with their life. It likely couldn't go beyond that point, as then one crosses into the less severe parts of this spectrum...

And maybe the little kid has no idea what she's really doing, and thinks she's a wonderful angel who saved their life or something.
