Default [1x1 Juri & M e w] Newton's Children   #1
Soooo this is between me and M e w. Please do not post here. Have a nice day! =)

Name ;; Zach [9103]

Age ;; 13

Ability ;; Electromagnetic Manipulation
A very broad and powerful ability that he can only use the closer it is to his frequency. Electronic jamming, camoflague (both visible and infrared levels), and even microwaves to heat things up. But that is only mildly painful and alarming at best. It is a subtle power and difficult to maintain at a desired frequency for the desired effects.

Appearance ;; Height - 5'4" | Weight - 100 lbs. | Skin - Medium Olive | Hair - Medium Brown| Eyes - Hazel | Distinction Marks - 9103 tattoo on right wrist

Rather short for his age with a soft child's face that belies a strong square jawline. His eyes are slightly slanted of his Asian heritage, showing also through his smaller, but fit, frame. His hair is cut to a near buzz but has grown slightly. During his escape he is wearing a standard off-white cotton tunic uniform not crafted for anything but surviving the drills and exercise executed indoors.

Personality ;; Zach only has a minor memory blocking implant since he only just turned 13. It isn't intrusive and allows his personality and natural inclinations to shine through so the Wardens can choose a role that he will excel in. He drifts dangerously close to being a free thinker as his ability to collect information and solve problems is slightly higher than the average. He is withdrawn from the other children, preferring to watch than participate.

Background ;; Zach was only 9 when the invasion began. He was old enough to realize what was going on to some extent and still remembers the world as it once was. Even now he has nightmares about the family he no longer has. But has silently tried to adapt to where he's found himself. Doing only what is asked of him and allowing himself to drift to a safe corner of his mind. Then came the dreaded 13th birthday. He often considered his chances of getting free but never thought he would do it...

Local Weirdo
Name ;; Miles ??? [5185]

Age ;; 16

Ability ;; Energy Blast
Basically what it sounds like. Miles is able to control a sort of energy similar to the kind that his energy sword uses for an attack to cause physical harm. This means a good assumption of the source would be the white towers or something controlled by the overlords. The energy can be sent out in a wave-like blast but Miles will learn to control it over his sword like he would have used it before to use less of his own energy expelling it.

Appearance ;; Height - 5'11" | Weight - 170 lbs. | Skin - Tanned | Hair - Blonde | Eyes - Muddy Brown | Distinction Marks - 5185 tattoo on right wrist, large scar from left shoulder across collarbone

Very tall for a 16 year old and muscular yet lean build. His blonde hair falls to his jawline in straight strands, his bangs rest at his brows.
Sharp, masculine features in his face, though there is still a hint of the softness of adolescence in his mouth.
Attire is typical for a soldier, his being personalized like others for his own strength and agility.
Consists of black, lightly-armored gear, any gadgets for use in the field, a small amount of survival supplies in a lightweight pack, and a belt with a sheath to hold his energy sword.

Personality ;; Like all other soldiers he is very serious and unemotional, but of course this changes a bit as his memory block breaks more and more.
He does stay pretty serious, blunt, and reacts with little conscience most of the time. When traces of his real personality DO slip out however he tends to be protective, kind, and sometimes a bit naive.
He also gets confused when the block cracks and the leakage of his memories and real self will cause him headaches, sometimes at inappropriate times.

Background ;; When the overlords invaded Earth and took over Miles was just twelve years old. He was rounded up with the other children quickly and was kept in the usual way for less than a year. When he turned thirteen he was determined to be a good candidate to become a warrior and though he struggled against it his mind and memory were blocked and he was modified into an offensive, attacking soldier. Since then he has been kept under control by the overlords with only slight breakage in his memory block, which has always been fixed before it could break completely.

The sound of klaxons roared behind him as whatever unit of hunters were being deployed to catch the rogue trainee. The wardens rarely did speak, never removed their helmets. Even the soldiers, once a child like himself, barely spoke except to accept and receive battle commands. It was like they were completely mindless and the thought of that being his future always scared him. His heart was beating erratically from the sudden physical exertion.

If it wasn't for his implants his emotions would be sky high right now. Thanks to them he could think about his next action. Running would do nothing. Hunters were a selective group bred for one thing only. They would be true to their namesake...fortunately one of the things his training focused on was tracking. The older boy, soon to be a young man, deftly navigated the rubble. Every step he took he seize opportunities to cover his tracks and misdirect his trackers.

The sky began to subtly shift from an annoyingly cheerful blue. It felt like he'd been lying under the seat of a van for a whole day now...his only company being the corpse of another trainee demonstrating the uselessness of his attire. A off-white, but nonetheless bright, thin tunic did nothing to increase his chances of survival. The cadaver's rotten smell still tickled his nostrils in the foulest of ways. Even though the hunters had made no sound in the last 10 minutes Zach made no movement to escape his potential resting place. Food, water, heat...would only be a problem if he survived the first trial. Once the sun had fully set he would know they were gone. But no sooner....
BAM

Something hit the side of the adjacent car. Despite his determination, despite all the willpower his was pouring into these final hours of quiet hiding Zach couldn't escape the basic instincts programmed by his damnable genes. A tiny sound traveled from his throat which not even his closed mouth stopped its escape. Freezing completely the boy counted the dreadful seconds.

The dead in front of him rose from its slumber and crawled headfirst at him. Zach screamed. His emotions finally plateaued. It seemed his fallen brother was pulling him from his his hiding spot. He flailed, fighting the cold hands as he was pulled out. Looking up he saw it was not what his fear made him think. Zach was on his knees covered in the wet mud. Looking directly up at, not a hunter, but an accompanying soldier. Zach wasn't sure of his classification but he looked like he saw a good amount of front line warfare.

The sun was beating down on the top of Miles's head and sweat was dripping down his face and the back of his neck. Even though he was just about as unemotional as any other soldier he could still feel discomfort and he knew it would be relieved when the burning star started sinking down towards the horizon. For now he made his way to a nearby shell of a car and sat behind it in shadow, giving him some shelter from the heat.

His usual job was to patrol an entire 3-mile radius of land, close to the border of his overlord's territory, but today he had been limited to a good third of that. He figured with such a small area to patrol he could make himself comfortable for the next few hours or so.
However, perhaps a half hour sitting in the shadow of the wrecked machine he shut his eyes and dozed off. He awoke a couple hours later with a jolt. A buzzing in his ears told him that there was an escaped trainee, expected to be closing in on his patrol area. Something in the deep recesses of his mind seemed to wake up, something he shouldn't feel as a soldier. Fear. Miles knew that if he was caught snoozing, especially while there was an escaped kid running about, he would be punished brutally. Instinctively his hand went to his left shoulder, where a jagged scar blemished the skin underneath his armor.

Shaking his head free of the strange feelings he rose to his feet and hit the car nonchalantly with a closed fist. Almost too quiet to hear, a small squeak sounded from another wasted automobile just a few yards away from where Miles now stood. Very quietly he made his way over to the car and stuck his hand underneath it. Immediately he felt a warm mass underneath and grabbed at it. With a grunt he pulled the other boy out, not deterred by his struggles.

As he looked down at the other child he automatically reached for the metal rod at his waist. The weapon gleamed silver in the light, the "blade" curving slightly in a graceful way. It resembled a sword but the edges were not sharpened like a typical blade would be. It was just as deadly though.
Miles pulled his sword out of its sheath, the weight reassuring in his hand, and pointed it down at the face of the frightened escapee. In the seconds that he stared down blankly at the boy something in his mind seemed to click, but he did not know what it was. He simply continued to gaze at the one in front of him, not showing any sort of emotion or action.

Zach looked up at his would be captor...or executioner with fear plain on his face. Would death be better than the fate the young man before him was living? He couldn't bear the thought of either fate yet stared at the hand that held the silver blade. There were rumors, a secret among the children only, about some peers possessing some kind of power. Sometimes the way they escaped was night on impossible...normally. Such as Zach opportunity had opened before he used the latent ability again. Unlike before though he saw his hands fade into the background. Not quite clear but still blended in with the mud. He blinked once then took the opportunity. Was he fast enough? Zach didn't know but hoped his natural agility combined with this camouflage he could out match the enhanced human.

Through his periphial vision Zach saw his advantage seemed to be working. The hope was short lived when he heard a high-pitched whistle. Something that sounded like a banshee's wail, not that Zach remembered the stories but it was terrifying anyway. His luck couldn't possibly hold now the hunters had a fix on his location as well.

[[Have Miles do what he will. Help Zach now, or once the Rebels show up.]]

[ Rebels are gonna be showing up? Or do you mean Hunters? D: ]

At the sight of the younger boy's face twisting up in fear even further, Miles tightened the grip on the hilt of his sword, the black leather of it squealing against his gloved hand. Then the boy seemed to start disappearing. Miles squinted at what he saw and suddenly it was as though he had gotten struck over the head with his own weapon. His free hand clasped against the left side of his face and he grunted in pain.
As he hunched down, defenseless against the searing in his brain, flashes seemed to appear in front of his eyes for a swift, brief moment, and then they, along with the pain, were gone. It must have lasted for only thirty seconds, but as Miles stood upright again he could feel something. As he stared back down at the escapee, halfway faded away somehow, he could feel a desire to do what he had started and flee from this place.

The sound of a Hunter whistling, probably a second or third time since the first, broke him out of his revery. He turned his back to the younger boy and scanned the landscape in front of him. There were the scattered remains of human machinery, such as the two cars behind him, broken and desolate across it. This area could have been that of a small, friendly community four years ago, but now it was overgrown with plantlife, currently dry from the overbearing heat. If there had been buildings and houses they were just rubble now. Farther out than a normal human being would be able to see, Miles caught the shadow of something moving amongst a group of trees and greenery several hundred yards away. They weren't far.

He wasn't even sure why he was doing this, but he was going to do it anyway. Some force in the back of his mind was telling him to, and somehow he knew it was best to listen to it and not ask questions.
"Go crouch behind that car. Keep doing that camouflage thing you're doing, and do not move until I tell you to. Follow?"
Miles spoke the command without glancing back at the other kid, his sights still set on the figures darting back and forth now only about two hundred yards away. At least he would have some element of surprise. The Hunters, Miles counted about three of them, would not be expecting a Soldier to take up arms with them. Rather, they were probably figuring that he was waiting for them to reach him so that he could report what he knew about the whereabouts of the escaped trainee, and hand him over if he had found him.

[ I guess I'm gonna stop here so that I don't go on too long and don't give you room to reply haha. Planning on a little fight scene so it might have just gone on a little too long I guess. ^^; ]

[[ahglsdn x-x I KNOW I typed a post to this one already. Am I losing my mind? D: Then I again I have dreamed of working then waking up thinking I didn't have to work that night xP
yes both hunters and rebels will show up. And I hope you didn't forget the fight scene as you waited ^^; ]]

One moment he was praying prayers he barely remembered, the next he was swearing the few swears in knew when the soldier got close enough to him to speak without shouting. But what he said...made no sense at all. Was it a ruse? Something about his eyes had changed...before it was so hollow. Now there seemed something more human about him. Something about his eyes made Zach feel like he could suddenly trust this young man. Just in case he did pick up a nasty piece of rusted metal that looked rather sharp.

[[I guess there's nothing for me to do since the fight scene is mostly in your hands right now >w>]]

As he heard the younger boy do what he had told him to do, he felt something run through him, some other strange feeling. What was the word for it.... relief. It confused him, another weird emotion he knew he should not be feeling. This was all starting to give Miles a headache, something he did not need right now.
It only took a few more moments for the Hunters to be close enough that they stopped their frantic running. They were all smaller than the Soldier, but that made them a lot swifter. Already Miles was calculating just how much of an advantage this would give them. If it was just one of them, even two, it wouldn't be enough to make him wary, but three Hunters didn't exactly boost his confidence.

"You there Soldier, good job finding the escaped trainee and taking him into custody. Now go get him and hand him over so that we my take him back for punishment," one of the Hunters said, probably the leader of the group. His voice was completely hollow and monotone, almost like a robot. Miles just continued to stare at them, his weapon still at his side. The lead Hunter tilted his head to the side slighty in confusion, but then commanded the Hunter to his left to go get the boy instead.

As soon as the other boy stepped away from the line up and towards the wrecked car behind him, Miles twisted the grip of the sword, a swirl of mechanics sounding from inside the device, and a surge of energy flew down the length of the unsharpened blade, emitting a luminescent blue light. The Hunter froze then, staring at the Soldier in utter confusion, but decided to ignore him and continued towards the spot where the escapee hid. In a flash Miles moved in front of the Hunter, his energy sword shining dully in the light. It looked as though the Hunter were about to say something, tell him to move perhaps, but Miles didn't give him a chance; he pulled back his left arm and swung it towards the other boy's face, hitting him hard on his right temple. The Hunter stumbled backwards in surprise before falling on his backside into the dirt, his hand pressed up against his eye.

It only took a second for the other two to realize what was happening, and they surged towards Miles like deadly bullets. The leader went in to punch him in the gut, but he dodged the fist without much trouble then brought down his elbow onto the Hunter's back, causing him to grunt in pain and fall to the ground. The third one was already upon him, trying to land a few punches as well, but Miles was able to block them all before they landed. He was actually doing a pretty good job so far, but that was probably just because he'd had the element of surprise on his side. Now the three Hunters had analyzed the situation and drew back, regrouping themselves before forming a triangle around him. This was where the real fight started, and Miles found himself grinning in anticipation, the corners of his mouth turned upward in an unfamiliar way. He thought about it for a second, and decided that he liked this feeling, the wave of adrenaline crashing down on him with amazing pressure. Suddenly the first attacker made his move, rushing at Miles with his entire body, a strange thing for a Hunter to do really, and he easily dodged the bumrush and kicked out his leg into the other's side sending him flying to the ground again. It was a false victory though, because the other two had taken oppourtunity of his distraction and double-teamed him, sending kicks and punches flying as fast and hard as they could. Miles did the best he could at blocking them but they overpowered him quickly and as soon as he fell to the ground they each pulled out sharp, curved knives, no look of apprehension on their faces at all at what they were planning to do. He still hadn't used his sword, which was not something he usually hesitated with, but something in the back of his head had been telling him to wait until it was absolutely necessary. That faint voice was quiet now. Perhaps this was the time when it would be necessary to use his weapon; with all three Hunters now coming at him with their own deadly blades he wouldn't be able to defend himself, and the other kid, with just his body.

Twisting the grip in his hand as tight as he could, the energy swirling faster around the dulled edges of the weapon, he jumped to his feet in one jerky movement and charged at the two Hunters in front of him. They were close enough together that when he swung his sword they were both blasted back by the glowing light coming off the blade and were sent flying several meters. Before they even hit the ground Miles had turned around to face the third one, arcing his blade down across the Hunter's chest. He hadn't expected him to be as close as he was, and the blue energy actually touched him as it raked across his body, cutting through his protective armor and biting into his skin. As the Hunter flew back from the impact red droplets rose into the air in a spray, hitting Miles like bullets across his face and neck. It shuoldn't have affected him, he'd seen blood hundreds of times and had been the cause of such injuries many times as well, but as the thick liquid splashed across face a sick feeling in his gut began rising up to his throat. Before the vomit managed to climb all the way up he pushed it back down, gasping loudly once it was safe to breathe. Finally he gazed around him, and saw that the other two Hunters were currently incapacitated, but the leader was mumbling into something. He was calling for backup, not good.
Sensing that this was the only opportunity he would have to escape, he twisted at the hilt of his sword to turn the flow of energy off and sprinted over to where the younger boy was hiding. "Come on, we have to get out of here!" he yelled at him, the still unfamiliar emotions bursting out of him as he spoke.

[[Sorry for ME taking so long this time. xD;;
Hopefully we can get a better pace going soon heh.]]
