you can say anything you want about this show good or negative comments are welcome. as for me i love this show i am a big fan of damon he is so sexy by the way. and oh yes caroline is cute aswell. its a spin off to twilight but more modernized. it has good drama and story line.

Not to sounds rude or anything, but it is NOT a spin-off of Twilight. The books were actually written and published back in the 90's, way before Twilight was ever a horribly conceived notion, Yes, the CW followed the vampire crazed bandwagon and decided it'd be a good idea to turn the books into a show... but anyway. Back on topic!

I watch the show. It really disappointed me that the directors took out some of the key characters in the story, but, over-all its not too bad. Tis getting a bit repetitive for my tastes, but, once I start something I always have to finish it. xDD; I was hoping to be left with a cliffhanger season finale, buttttt. =/

I've been waiting to read the books for years and just haven't got to them yet.
I started watching the show when it first came out but I haven't seen it in a while...
I wouldn't mind watching it honestly.

Still; As Batty said, It's not a spin-off. No where near. They were written before the horror of Twilight came to be. Granted thats a little harsh. The books were okay (besides the sparkling vamps ideas) The movies... well... suck

But yeah, the books aren't bad. I'm much more a fan of her other books, though. Mostly because L.J. made the mistake of continuing the series AFTER she killed off Elena. And then brought her back... with the mind of a child who had super powers, and was mute for the first half of the darn thing. ><; I like where they're going with the show a lot more than the books, I think.

i agree i like the books but not a fan of sparkling vamps laughing so hard but i did not know the vd books were out b4 twilight again but thanks for your respose

Mizzy;; Books one through three are AMAZING. Books four through like... seven? Not so much. It just seemed as if she was struggling to throw more out there because of the TV show.

It basically goes along the lines of Elena, of course, being in a love triangle with both Damon and Stephan. Damon is a lot more horrible in the books, and can actually shape shift in them. Supernatural things are drawn to their town, not because of the vampires, but because theres a ley line, or some such running through the town. I won't give anything else away, because the first three books are really good. Its just the following ones that didn't tickle my fancy too much. xDD;

And now she's got another one of her book series [my personal favorite] being turned into a TV show, too. Same channel, this fall. Thats called the Secret Circle, and its about Witches. <3 But I'm prett upset, cause, they've already massacred the storyline..

Hrm, I've never actually seen Vampire Diaries though I've heard about it and seen the books. I just can't decide if it's a vampire series that I'd like. Is it similar to Twilight? CAuse I'm not a fan of Twilight >.<
