An Imaginary Life is by David Malouf, and is about the Roman poet Ovid in exile and living with barbarians. It's also hard to explain. I'd maybe think of it as something of an illustrated philosophy rather than a narrative story. Have some series cover art! Malazan Book of the Fallen

How did you like Devil in the White City?
It is still pretty popular, so I'm thinking its really good?

It got a bit dry in a few parts, but was pretty good. I liked the writing style.

Erikson is easy enough to find. Malouf has a few books, but I picked up "An Imaginary Life" from a used store. Not sure what would show up in a regular store.

@Kad
Yeah NF gets dry at some points. Talk about dry: I've been reading The Source Field Investigation since last September. It gets really dry and I just put it down. I've picked it up again. I want to read H is for Hawk, it is supposed to be very good.

@Quiet: sorry about that, I missed your post.
I have added you to the first page. I just was looking on my bookshelf and found Smila's Sense of Snow. I watched the movie a long time ago and thought it was good, and I have heard the book is very good, so I will try to read it at some point. I am in a non-fiction loop that is all I've been reading.

With the nice weather coming I will be reading a lot. I love to sit outside and read or on my terrace and read.
I noticed that you read Kindred. I loved that book. Have you tried Parable of the Sower and Parable of the Talents by the same author, Octavia Butler? She is an amazing author, try those best dystopian books I have ever read.

Yeah I totally get that, but these books are different.
If you ever want to try the genre again try these. Or Station Eleven, which was quite a different take on the subject.
