It came from below the ground!

Nobody expected it. Nobody knew something like this could even happen. One day, suddenly, something strange started oozing up out of the ground, until everything was completely covered in a layer of slime. At first, people were outraged; nobody really knew what to do or why this was happening. But it didn't go away, so over time people began to accept its presence. Once it had been accepted, the slime revealed itself to be alive, and it began to take humanoid shapes -- or at least, the best it could, anyway. It had only one thing it wanted: it wanted to be loved.

People screamed and panicked as they found themselves covered in slime. They hated the slime. Local governments began to take action to get rid of the slime. Unfortunately, the slime creatures did not understand, and they came back, time after time. In fact, the more times they returned, and the more they managed to make contact with other beings, the more solid they became

After a month, they began to be able to hold onto their forms, and they worked on speaking words to express their love for all around them. A sense of guilt passed through the community as everyone felt bad for how they had treated these affectionate slime creatures. Some took them in as pets, others tried to teach them, and a few even managed to form bonds of love with them.
