At Mavek's small voice he raised an eyebrow. Something was definitely off about him; he had expected an angry and mocking rebuttal, not a sad, empty voice. His bite was missing, and Shaun was feeling a bit guilty for using such a mean tone with him.
He let the thought of pity slid however, and turned around to look at Mavek again, crossing his arms.
"And it would only take a few days to walk there? I wouldn't say I have a problem traveling on foot, but I expected a quicker way honestly..." he said, trailing off at the end. For some reason, Shaun didn't think of Mavek as the type to hike across the land, even if he was a demon.
The objective seemed simple enough; travel to the town where the demon was supposed to be hidden, go in and kill it, collect his other half of payment. Nothing complex at all.

Without another word he gathered up his duffel bag and strode into the bathroom. He might as well get a shower too, perhaps it would clear his mind like it had yesterday.
No such luck. Although he calmed down a little bit, he could still see the brutally murdered bodies in the back of his mind. He sighed, annoyed, as he walked out of the bathroom, dressed in his cargo pants and black tank top. Setting down his bag onto the bed, he took out his bullet-proof vest, his jacket, and his combat boots. He quickly pulled on the rest of his mercenary gear, clipped his lip ring into place, and hastily brushed through his strip of hair, clipping up the back of it after he did so.
"I'm ready when you are," he told Mavek, lastly strapping his several weapons into their normal positions.

Exp. + 9,000

Having been ready before Shaun was, Mavek sighed softly and just stood. "You know. I don't always walk... If it pleased you better... We could fly..." he said as he pulled his shirt up some and cupped his hand against his skin as a stool. One of his tattoos quickly slithered off and into his hand. It stood up, still flat and jelly like... Though, it quickly began to become solid and change from just black to a brilliant blue and silver. He then stepped out of the door and noticed that there were a few people. He nodded his head and held his dragon against him as it stretched out its wings and yawned. It was obviously tired from not being used in a while.

Walking around the back of the motel, he watched as shaun followed him. When they were both ready, he tossed the dragon onto the ground and in a matter of thirty seconds, it was fairly large. Mavek quickly jumped onto its back and when everyone was aboard, the dragon was off, knowing exactly where it was expected to go since they were connected in ways. This dragon was pretty much just an extension of himself... So, it knew everything he did.

It only took about an hour and a half to get to the town and the dragon landed in a field in the woods, beginning to shrink as Mavek walked up to its face and gave it a nice pat, thanking it. He then picked it up when it was small enough and he simply pressed it into his stomach, a large black splatter of ink on his stomach now. It quickly turned back into a dragon on his skin and slithered up to rest with the other two.

"And here we are. Shall we go check in?" he asked, since he always had a room on reserve here.

By traveling faster, he hadn't exactly meant to fly in the air on the back of a dragon. His eyes were wide throughout the entire flight, the rushing air stinging them but he refused to shut them. He had never been in the air before, and he was leaning over the side of the beast the whole time, a childlike wonder filling his mind. It's not as if the world below was beautiful... not with the only colors being brown and gray anywhere they went. The entire world was covered in grime and poverty, nothing beautiful about it, but Shaun found an amazement in looking down at the land as if he did not belong to it. He wished he could stay up in the sky forever, not having to return to the nightmares that plagued the ground below.

Too soon, the flight was over, and Shaun descended the winged creature a bit longingly. His mood had lightened considerably because of their time in the air, and he found himself smiling a little as he followed Mavek to the hotel they would be staying at. He wiped it off of his face once he realized it; this wasn't some leisurely vacation, he had to be in his working mode.
At Mavek's question he just nodded, a serious expression now on his face. He could feel heat pumping through his blood now, the demon was supposed to be here and that meant that he would be fighting soon. No more thinking and feeling sorry for himself. This job was already tiring, something about his client had him thinking about things way too much.

"So... where is this thing anyways? Am I just gonna go storm it's lair and attack?" he said, a sarcastic grin spreading his mouth.
