Default Rose x Kano ~   #1
Unknown to most there are various types of dark elves, most commonly the black skinned ones who live in the undergrounds of the common world. One of the more rarer types were the ice elves, Although they did not have dark in their name they were one in the same at the start of time. The language and culture both remained similar to their warmer more inland cousins.

But there were a few differences, these elves were weak against fire, also they did not worship the females of the clans as their warmer cousins did. Other clans of dark elves had to learn to cooperation with humans an the various other tribes an races of the lands. The ice elves however did no such thing, humans rarely traveled far enough to even come in contact with them let alone survived long enough to try and talk peace over with these blood thirsty elves.

Though as the years passed the humans did spread further into the elves domain.. some clans fell to the sher numbers of the human armies while other laid down their arms to keep their remaining clan members alive. Not that this earned them as the right to be called equals to the humans, being beaten an enslaved the few who did lay down arms did not last long under the human watch.

Our tale follows two young elves in their struggle against all odds. Though they would rather tear one another apart then work together they must learn to do such things if they wish to survive. But our story takes place a little before all of this, in times that were slightly more peaceful.

The grounds were silent throughout the caverns of the icy mountain the Inthuul clan called home. Training was taking place, both the magic users and the common bloods were being prepared for the foreseen war with the humans. The seers of the clan had predicted a massive conflict with the neighboring tribes of humans and ice trolls that had come to make homes near their own. Though this was of little concern to a young cleric in training who would rather be at home practicing on her own then in this over sized class that her parents expected her to be the top student of.

The clerics name was Rinira Orthae, her father was the strongest mage in the clan and her mother was of common blood but a expert in alchemy.. also well known for her assassination work. A magic and common blood mix made her unable to fit into either category.. at least the pure bloods in the clan had a place to call home her magic wasn't the strongest an she was too damn stubborn to even begin to try for any other division.

Her eyes were a soft blue and her hair a light shade of red out of all the odds, a rare color among her clan seeing as they had a known weakness to the fire elements. Commonly she was seen carrying a engraved staff that was passed down to her by her father, a sort of inspiration seeing as she always admired him secretly, a goal in her life was to outdo her fathers legacy he had left for her to follow, though seeing as he was still breathing she has a ways to go to come close to being compared to the mage he is. Her outfit was normally the same, a hooded dress to hide her hair an face, unlike most dark elves her emotions weren't as well hidden as others. Her cloth color of choice was white to show she was training to be a cleric, if she ever passed her training she'd be allowed to carry a sheild with the mark of the cleric on it and the proper robes of her clan.

Though with the trolls an humans moving in on both sides of the northern areas had forced the different ice elf clans to merge into one large one an try to get along.. this did not always end well there were feuds and blood shed on a daily basis. This however did not stop the strongest of the tribes from taking command an forcing the others in line to help rid the lands of the future threat from above ground.

A yell suddenly broke Rin's concentration as she flinched an glared her eyes at the instructor who quickly returned the young elf's look. "Do you expect to be as great as your father by not paying attention Rinira?" he said to her aloud for the rest of the students to hear. Most of them would show respect an say no sir or whatever but Rin wasn't like them, even if she ever got such power she'd still be looked down upon she was nothing.. she was always told that her parents thought highly of her an spoke so as well but most who knew her outside of her parent's eyes knew better then to cross this quick tempered young dark cleric.

Rolling her eyes she looked away from the instructor before leaning slightly lazily against her staff "if i'm depending on this class to give me such training to become half the magic user my father is then I'll be over a thousand years of age by the time it happens.." she said crossly. She cared little as to who she spoke to, not like they were going to kill her she had crossed no lines, stepped on toes maybe. The instructor snorted before going back to walking down the line an ordering a few of the others to do the spell properly and such. He'd be back, but she knew she had won this battle for the moment.

His breath clung to him pleadingly against the frigid air. Panting, he stood up straight and proud. Though he came from a common birth, he has been since acknowledged as a prodigy at a young age. Merok grimaced as the pain set in from a few bruises and welts on his arms. However, his training partner wasn't as lucky. The poor soul lay in a crumpled heap unconscious.

He didn't speak much at all. In fact, you'd almost thing Merok was a mute. He silently watched as their instructor tended to his opponent, which was starting to come to. Merok nodded deeply at the other and turned to walk away.

"Merok you weren't dismissed!" Exclaimed the instructor to his pupil whom only got a brief side glance from Merok. His gaze was silent and strong, which caused the teacher to stare silently as the child walked away. He was on his way back to the orphanage to rest for the night. As he walked through the deep cavern's halls, the people avoided his gaze and gave him much more space than he needed. Unfortunately, this was due to Merok's infamy. He was known for his short fiery temper, but more importantly he was seen as cursed by the clan. He was the only member in the clan to have fiery red eyes, which gave the impression of embers beneath his silky black hair that swept in winter's icy gusts.

Little was known about him. Though he was assumed to be common, nobody could be certain. He had been found abandoned by his parents in some evergreens down at the base of their illustrious mountain. Some even speculate he was borne from hell itself. Though we might not ever find out.

After watching the teacher's pet show off for a little bit she rolled her eyes and raised her staff up from the ground in front of her as her blue eyes glowed a icy blue. They wanted her to try she'd show them, she thought to herself as she growled out her command of her holy element an pointed the head of her weapon towards the target. A sudden bolt leap from the staff and struck the marked area leaving a burn mark in it's center that engulfed the target leaving little to nothing of the dummy in it's wake.

"Pff" she huffed suddenly before cracking her neck and storming away from the class, she heard snickering behind her. "Your suppose to be a cleric not a mage" someone said suddenly as the class bust into laughter. Her ears went straight back as she grinded her teeth against one another and continued her walk, her eyes remaining their icy blue as she stormed through the caverns. She was in no mood to be crossed by anyone she cared little as to who or what got in her way she was ready to snap.

Almost upon her home by now she had calmed slightly but her posture and ears showed that she was still in no mood to be fucked with. Her hood was up covering her eyes and the slightly hurt look on her face from the torment she went through. Having a assassin and a mage as parents made her a very poor candidate to be a cleric.. but she wanted to do this, though unsure of why her mind had always been set on this path of life.

She had taken little notice of the people around her, she knew she had a exam to pass soon enough a physical one, she'd have to be at the top of her game to pass if she truly wished to be a cleric. It was a odd way of proven the trainees worth really, they'd send mixed groups out of the caverns an tell them to do certain tasks.. if they returned then they would pass if they did not they were assumed to be dead.

Her walk continued to be face paced as she turned a corner her mind on her thoughts and not paying a lick of attention she was two buildings from being home what did she care, she feared no one in her clan no matter if they were cursed or not she felt herself was cursed as to follow in her parents footsteps.

Merok walked with his eyes to the ground letting his mind drift into the dream world. Basically, he was a walking zombie at this point. Dreams of glory did not invade this young man. Instead, he though of what lay beyond the endless sea of snow. His clan weren't known to be the exploring type. Nay, they always dreamed of battle, fame, and fortune.

There was a few in the past that went out into the world. None, however, had returned to their quiet side of the world. Only a few centuries ago, the Council had forbidden anyone from leaving. They wanted to pursue the never-ending conflict with the trolls and the occasional band of human filth that seemed to creep up from the east. The trolls however, were common, strong, and just plain old dumb.

He hardly noticed as the young priestess in training ran straight into him. Even though she fell hard to the floor, the only reaction she got out of him was a faint grunt as he continued towards the orphanage.

She was almost to her front door as she walked a bit faster paying no attention to the soon to come collision. After hitting what felt like a wall she growled a little to cover the fact that the fall hurt. Recovering herself a little she watched as the guy, what looked to be a young warrior walked past not pausing even a moment. Sure her kind wasn't known to be soft hearted but he could have at least said something like get out of the way or anything to acknowledge her. Making a face she stood from where she had fallen and called to the warrior "You could have at least said get out of the way bloody hell"

After she got no response at all she made a slight noise under her breath and walked over to him forgetting that she was right in front of her house as she stood directly in his path and glared forcing him to notice her as she held her staff with one hand an extended a finger an pressing it against his chest with her other hand. "what are ye death or just fucking dumb?" Her mood was rather bold tonight, most of the time warrior trainees and the magic users did not converse at all. Rin of course thought this was stupid just because he was a warrior didn't give him a right to just walk over her an ignore her, plus her temper from earlier was feeding this bold yet stupid move.

She'd remain almost in his face for a answer ignoring his red eyes as her bangs lay along the sides of her face. She seemed to want a fight almost, in truth she didn't but she was going to get her point across that he should have at least acknowledged her.

Off in the slight distance a older elf of the clan was walking almost in the same direction towards the two of them though at the moment he wasn't really paying attention to what was going on, probably being in a hurry to get home after a days assignment.
