Leatherworking - making objects (pouches, bags, shoes, clothes, etc) out of leather (animal hides) as well as being able to dye leathers and imprint markings on them (artistic)
There are more things, but that is more a friend of mine's territory. Woodworking is largely artistic - making dragon heads the size of your hand, or carving multipurpose walking sticks... Haven't gotten to the "make a detailed beaver sculpture with a chainsaw" point. So...it's safe to assume that you get a lot of splinters working with wood?

Depends. As said, I don'd work with big saws - I do more fine stuff...so more finger cuts than splinters.

Dying leather? I've never seen dyed leather before, unless I have and leather is dyed leather color. Actually, I've never seen real leather in person before, probably. Anyways, do you dye leathers in actual colors? Like pink, yellow, and purple? Un-leathery colors?

That's probably where minecraft got the dyed leather armor from! :o
So I am pretty sure dyed leather (in pink, yellow, and purple) is a real thing! .___. Buying: NATMQuesting: Event Items 13/19 Miniature Fairy Wings, Immortal Worlds, Eye Sore Current Funds:0 Au. Updated: 12/16/16 08:55 PM

Ahhh, I had no idea. Logically when I think about it, leather can be dyed. Maybe it's because people where I'm from want to make this "it's real leather" statement that leather things are always leather colored. Um, fake leather things are always leather colored.

Look! I found some pink leather! I am not sure if it's real leather though.
And if it is, how did it get so pink? O.O http://g01.a.alicdn.com/kf/HTB1_7_kJ...n-s-design.jpg .___. Buying: NATMQuesting: Event Items 13/19 Miniature Fairy Wings, Immortal Worlds, Eye Sore Current Funds:0 Au. Updated: 12/16/16 08:55 PM

Woah! That's amazing! That looks like it's pink rubber or something! I'm curious how leather takes dye also!

Leather is skin (and somewhat fur) of an animal.
Essentially, think about a process similar to bleaching and dying your hair. Lawtan: A chaotic dragoness with issues. __s oferode, isses sw mg. __ Science, horror, folklore, and cuteness incoming!

Euh, I've never dyed my dark black hair before. But I'm guessing you take a chemical -->put it on leather -->leather gets weaker and lighter -->add dye -->wait or something? -->It's now super colorful! Like how some people how cotton-candy and fire-red hairs!
Are all leathers the same?

Nope - some animal hides are really bad for the process, and then there is the more processed variety that is cheaper but much more flimsy. And you use different chemicals for different purposes - some chemicals make it hard enough for a drum, other more suitable for clothing.
(Example: there is a lyme process used to remove fur and all - as I recently learned in Medieval Studies, that process also hardens the fur and when stretched out is cut to make vellum - paper for old books) Lawtan: A chaotic dragoness with issues. __s oferode, isses sw mg. __ Science, horror, folklore, and cuteness incoming!

Hrm, what animals do you use mostly? And also, is leather more than skin? Because leather always seems really thick to me and I don't see how skins can be that thick.
And, odd question but: If you use a process leather on human skin. Would it also be a leather? Actually, what's leather really? Processed skin?
