Currently, the only avatar site that has more than one pose is Gaia. All the other ones are standing only. Ernya had one, but gave it up almost as soon as the site started. :(

A sitting pose would add more interest to avatar dressup, add more moods available to the members, and increase interest towards the site, as it would be extremely rare.
The best time to add a new pose is at the beginning of the site, when most items have not yet been fully created and implemented. I think a sitting pose would be awesome.

You do have to consider, that a sitting pose would mean twice the work for pixelists, and it would make the avatar system more complex. I dont even know if the current system would be able to support multi pose.

The sitting pose on Ernya was really ugly and on Gaia guys sit like girls. :/

Currently we have no intention on doing any additional poses, while we have toyed with the idea for the future, and do have the ability to have more than one pose, that means we have to re-pixel every single one of our items, and recolor each of them so that they can be put on the new pose base. That would also include the longer hairs.

We currently do not have the manpower for such a task. Also, most of our items have been created already because we've been working with them for almost a year unlike most sites.

I don't know what's so awesome about sitting pose, personally. I would understand wishing for arm positions to change or something, but not sitting, since it really kind of worked only in Gaia towns nicely. ^^;
Maybe some day there could be some additional poses, but for now, I think it's pretty fine the way it is. Of course, to each their own.

@Senyoru-chan: How exactly do boys sit? Don't both sexes kneel the same - feet together, knees together?
@Zypher: I was kinda hoping for a tailor-fashion sit. That would be unique. It's great that items have been under development for nearly a year, though.
@Sadrain: Wouldn't it be cool to have a different pose instead of only the standing "ready" pose? Our standing avis here look like they are about to jump sideways.

Well, right now it's a no. But as I said, maybe in the future.

And not everyone kneels with both knees. Some kneel with one.

Not to mention, I found out that some guys kneel with their laps slightly open, just as they were sitting in normal position. (They say it hurts their bones sitting with closed laps. XD )

I don't know, I am just not fan of sitting poses. I would understand putting hand on the hip/side or something, but...
