Yeah, they're all just a tiny bit exaggerated. There's something I really like about the art style for this maker over the other ones I've used over the years. Not sure what, but it just appeals to me, visually.

Nostalgic Zelda? Or the early FF games? That's what it reminds me of. Essence of childhood reassurance.

Haha.
But honestly, not that much. It uses more colors than those really old games, which is probably why I like it so much. Same style, but looks better. Cold silence has a tendency to atrophy any sense of compassion between supposed lovers. Between supposed brothers.

Any more progress or thoughts on your game Sheol? I admit I haven't tried to dig it up from my argumentative Norton pit. I think I still need to get the sounds files too.

I played it a bit the other day but I got distracted by some other stuff. At least I've gotten to "free exploring mode" ;)

You sit there with it idling in your quarantine and dare pester me about it?! :p
Seriously, though, I haven't touched it since I put it up here. Waiting for more feedback. Cold silence has a tendency to atrophy any sense of compassion between supposed lovers. Between supposed brothers.

Hey, just making conversation :p. Thought I'd see how things were going while simultaneously bumping the thread up for new people to look at and possibly nab the game too. Be good and accept your free bump!

Note the tongue-lolling smiley. Your bump is most appreciated. :)
Just go DL the game so we can talk about it. :p Cold silence has a tendency to atrophy any sense of compassion between supposed lovers. Between supposed brothers.

Tongue-lolling smilies require either eye-rolling or more tongue-lolling responces, and it's rude to roll your eyes at someone. ;)

I will just note here, since I forgot to earlier, that the world map isn't actually free-roam. :p
I'm pretty tyrannical with location switches. They should all be switched off except for where you need to go at any given moment (and it'll usually give you an explanation for why you can't go there yet). Even to the point of backtracking, a lot of locations get closed of... for reasons that'll become apparent in the course of the game. Oh, and if you wander too far south at first, you'll run into tougher monsters... which is actually good, since they're still beatable for the most part but give more gold and xp. As long as you don't pull a DnD movie forcefield of "you cannot pass"-ness with a trap that leads the main guy -who is the only one that can pass- TO the treasure. Yeah, smooth there Mr. director/screenwriter/producer guy.

I am so happy I can't remember that. :D
And it's mostly just rail-roading, which is admittedly poor form, but I'm not quite sure how to get around it in this format. If the game was less story-driven I could allow complete free-roam, but as it is, most places have events on first entry which need to be viewed sequentially to make sense. Well, you could always do what Final Fantasy 2 and Ys does...put monsters that are FAR above your level in places you're not supposed to be yet. I always liked the fact that they let you go places you shouldn't, then mercilessly slay you for ignoring the warning/danger signs. ;)

Well, the problem with that here is that you'll be going to those places within like an hour of playtime, and even with my fairly-accelerated experience curve, you don't increase in power *that* much to justify doing something like that.
Though, granted if I let you head east to Mandelaine right at the beginning of the game, you'd get slaughtered. :p Cold silence has a tendency to atrophy any sense of compassion between supposed lovers. Between supposed brothers.

Thats one of the potential player deterrants I consider in DnD, though I haven't used it much. Knowing my party, they'd just die.

If it was my old DnD party, they'd kill the overpowered monsters and gain an insane amount of XP. :p
