I just didn't think it was funny, so I didn't bother quoting it. It was a good quote, just it wasn't the right time to say it. It would of been funny if he said that after Lunae's evolution.

No, I didn't get it right away, but then, I didn't notice the "what's this?" part, My brain just went "big bold letters! read those first!"

It would of made a difference because of the timing. The timing would of changed the meaning of the reference to more of a joke.
In translation if it was said during Lunae's evolution the joke it would of meant "HOLY CRAP THE ITEM HAS EVOLVED -Insert Pokemon Reference here-"
