♠ Our Nightmare... ♠

The problem facing our world has an innocent and a rather cliche origin. Scientists working for government get curious. Experiment goes wrong and everyone else has to pay the price. You see our understanding of the very fabric of the universe is pretty much...well we know nothing. But that will of course not stop human ambition from trying to create portals in whatever way seems theoretically feasible. Most of the data of what happened that day was lost with the first portal.

The whole world stopped for only a moment as our technology came to a sudden halt and many people either blacked out or had nightmares. It was the chaos afterwards that the human world eventually recovered...partially. The very fabric of reality was torn. And just as with any tear in a piece of fabric, they tend to get larger and larger with time. The organization has been tasked with taking care of a certain symptom from this tear and that is nitemares. While there is a department to find a "cure" for the very root of this sickness we wrought on our world there is so little we understand. About these things, or about the portals. The Nitemares...they are always born at night in larger numbers than in the day- when fewer people are asleep.

The impact this has left is a grown paranoia of the shadows becoming part of reality. This in turn tends to spawn more Nitemares to kill. Thus it is becoming a regular practice to pacifiy the public of their security. The Organization is looked upon in high esteem for protection.

♠ The Organization...

They are the government funded operation. Their agents are well paid, trained, and equipped. The organization as a nearly spotless reputation. But have to deal more with rules and politics that comes with being involved with the government. A majority of people working with the organization are soldiers however they do hire skilled mercenaries when needed.

♠ Their Relationship...
While their goal is the same thing the members of the Organization and Syndicate may not always see eye to eye. Obviously a well equipped group running around guns blazing are little more than wild vilantes sometimes int he eyes of the Organization. While the Syndicate finds the Organization too controlling. Keep in mind though corruption exists in both sides...

♠ The Syndicate...

They are a private branch of defenders funded by entrepreneurs of sorts. Just about anyone can work for them. Pay depends on your skill as well as any equipment available to you. There is more freedom with how you may conduct yourself with exception of...well just being an all around villain or costing them money. Every agent is given a cursory training on fighting nitemare. Though that isn't he only job available it is the more glorified of positions. The Syndicate being made of a conglomerate of businesses, who naturally watch out for their wallets first, has it's downsides....

♠ Who Made the Portal...
This is a subject under much debate. The governments around the world claim they funded no project, at least not one anywhere near research understanding to attempt opening some kind of portal. The government has lied before why not now? There is no vidicative evidence they are responsible. It just as well may been by a private investor.
