It reminds me a little of the item world pirates in Disgaea. Except their levels were vastly inflated compared to the current enemies so you could tell they were going to kick your butt xD

Yes. I came back for vengeance, as he wrecked me earlier in the game. :p

Apparently, their HP doesn't recover if you run from them and leave the dungeon, so you can whittle away at them, heal up and try again. I didn't know that until I read it online today. Would have made it a lot easier to take him down.

I'm so ridiculously over-leveled for the story, now. The event dungeon I have to go is level 9.

Oh right, the "storyline" xD I try to stay current in levels when I play the first time so that the story battles are at least a challenge. I have to admit in games with lucrative side quests and the like it's hard to do so. I'm well overpowered in White Knight Chronicles because I was soloing the online party dungeons, mostly because I dislike playing with random people.

Yeah,, honestly, in TU, the "story" dungeons are only different from random dungeons because they contain annoying cut-scenes I couldn't care less about. So, yeah... not too much incentive to progress. I tend to do five or six random dungeons for every event dungeon.

The more I learn about you the more I think you need to play Arc the Lad. At least the first two, they have a wonderfully anti-fantasy vibe to them.

About Lurkers again. I just got wiped out by a level 9, so yeah, their level is nowhere near an indication of their power. I didn't even get a single attack off against him. It was some huge golem thing. He killed Prinny with one punch, then used some kind of earthquake attack that knocked the rest of my party into critical. I tried desperately to heal up, but couldn't get up to full, not that would have mattered as he used it again, leaving only Etna standing, then he punched her and killed her, too.

At least you don't lose your progress for dying. :p

Okay Lurkers sound scary. Have you figured out what uses the items you got from the level 2 Lurker are used for yet?

They look like synth ingredients to me. They can't be used for anything, and they're not equipment, so that's my guess.

Can you even do synths yet? Or will that be a game mechanic opened up with the level 40 storyline area when they expect you to actually kill Lurkers? xD

I can synth stuff. One of the free DLCs actually unlocks a huge section of the synth list, though I can't make hardly any of it yet.

What strikes me is how many different ingredients there are. It seems like every item requires three unique things, which makes finding stuff in dungeons really hard to gauge how useful it is.

Honestly, I don't really pay attention to the ingredients, I just look to see what lights up in the synth menu. :p

I haven't hit one so far. If there is one, I hope it's huge, because this game seriously hands items out like candy.

Have I mentioned that they just spawn out of thin air while you're exploring dungeons? :p Every fight gives 5+ drops, too.

Hopefully by the time you get the money all the cheap copies won't be bought up. It seems to be pretty rare.
