It was such a clever idea. <3

A lot of those older fantasy movies were and still are some of my favorites. The Labyrinth, Dark Crystal, Mio and the Land of Faraway.
Answer my riddle to earn a prize!

You'll always feel it, but can never see it. It's strong but shatters easily. You can give it away but never hold it. What is it?

Mercury Poisoning!
I read the book of the Neverending story and eventually, I want to own my own copy of it. *someday* I think the movie still holds up well considering it was a movie back in the 80s. My favorite part in the book was the lion that I wished was in the movie, cus it seemed like an interesting character. I also remember this old Hallmark version of The Secret Garden, which had an older "Bastian Bux" in it. He got really cute. He played Dicken.

Even though I heard of Rainbow Brite, I don't think I saw it actually. Same with the Care Bears and My Little Pony. I actually didn't start watching My Little Pony until Friendship is Magic.

I had the Rainbow Brite Movie as well and I remember liking it, haha.

And I also remember finding The Neverending Story boring as a child, though I haven't watched it since then so I don't remember much about it tbh.

ok but honestly, friendship is magic is better than ANY Of the MLP stuff we had as kids. the show wasn't special AT ALL until friendship is magic happened.

I love FIM but not to the extent Bronies do, lmao.
And I like the gen 1 ponies cause of nostalgia. Gen 3.5 ponies are ugly imo though. https://i.pinimg.com/originals/26/f2...72cf65f556.jpg Noooo thanks

I'm not super addicted to MLP as some people are. Sure I own some MLP dolls and plushies but not to such extremes.

I remember a Rainbow Brite thing where Starlight was pulling a mill for some reason, along with this black horse. That's all I remember though. My sister (then friend) had this big floor puzzle of Rainbow Brite that we assembled every time were were together.

Not sure about the fairs, but Scholastic is still a thing. Nephews get them and I still leaf through and look for things. Now that I'm in library studies I know what Scholastic actually does! They make super cheap copies of books so that they are more accessible to people short on money. Quality is terrible but if you have kids that mangle them anyway, it's worth the cheap price.

Glad Scholastic is still around, and I didn't know that about them. :D I used to read Captain Underpants too, haha.

Also this song is like, one of the most 'makes me nostalgic for the 90s' songs ever:

Also, I can't believe the first Austin Powers movie came out 20 years ago

Oh geez, that song is in the Cars movie!

I thought Captain Underpants was fairly new but maybe it just got popular. My niece saw the movie. She, of course, thought it was the best thing in the world. Potty humour for days, I'm told.

Case in point for Scholastic: Pete the Cat "New Shoes" (or something like that) at a retail book store, hardcover, $21.00 (CDN). Through Scholastic catalogue, soft cover with flimsy pages, $3.00. It's special to schools, I'm pretty sure. The rest of us regular folks need to pay full book price.

Just remembered, on DA I found a wonderful picture of Starlight that someone drew, if he was a human, drawing the conclusion that he would be ragingly homosexual. Rainbow streaked hair and horse tail, horn, and glowsticks at rave. It was pretty great.

Okay, was wrong about the horn. I wasn't as much of a Rainbow Brite fan as my friend.

Starlite, Starbrite

EDIT: I just noticed the mesh shirt.

Ooooh, gotcha. Yeah, I also remember I was part of some kids book club thing where every month they'd mail you a few books and the pages were super thin and cheap. I was also in the Goosebumps book club. I miss those and magazines. Now everything is digital pretty much. :(

And yeah, that pic is pretty dope haha

Cool! I watched some of the Goosebumps tv show on Netflix a while back, but I couldn't take all the cheese, haha. I remember I watched it occasionally as a kid but I always preferred the books.
