It's sci-fi book series that follows a bunch of kids that before they were born, some mad scientist types injected their fetuses with bird genes. So now they're kids with wings who can fly and have other bird traits/abilities like hollow bones and good eyesight and stuff. o3o

Honestly the first one or two books were good, but they went downhill after that >>;

Nah, it's not scary or anything. There's a manga/comic adaptation too. Supposedly there's a movie coming out in a couple years or so, but I'm convinced it'll be trash... x.x;;

The bad guys are a LITTLE scary, but not exceedingly so. A kid could easily read this. You can easily look it up, but spoilers can be a bitch.
(I intentionally didn't include spoilers and intentionally left the first one hard to read, in case someone saw this and wanted to read it.)

And I wouldn't call it "popular" ... but not unheard of.

Yup! For the 25th anniversary, they announced that they're redoing the anime. The art they've released of it is gorgeousssss and so colorful and nostalgic and and and -fanboys-
It comes out in July and I'm so amped OwO

I've heard that they're sticking way closer to the manga than the original anime did, but adding modern technology and stuff (it was made 25 years ago after all!), but it's all rumors and I have no way of knowing for sure.

AND I HOPE I CAN MAKE IT THAT LONG. I MIGHT DIE OF FANBOY IF THEY KEEP RELEASING NEW IMAGES.

Hehe, I had them mostly in one place >w>; And nope, no trailers yet. There are a couple fake, fan-made ones but they came out before the official announcement =P I'm sure I will explode once I see the characters all move. I hope they keep the light, flowy, translucent feel of the manga.

And -nod- that's the name of the revamp. Or maybe just the first season, as the original anime gave names to every season idk owo;

...Is it ironic I was just reading a pair of articles on science fiction being a dying genre?

One stated exactly that - most scientific ideas have been used...several say overused.

The other sort of goes along with people not seeing the wonder that drew them to both science and science fiction in the first place.
