I don't speak fluently, but I know a fair bit of it. Mainly more vocabulary than piecing sentences together, similar to my french.

She just thought it was a better language for me to learn, plus my sister speaks it so she thought she'd be able to help me if I was having trouble. I really wanted to take ASL though. ;3;

oh, I see... I was interested in german language when I was 15, but I started reading about it and learning about it (sporadically) when I was about 20.
and what is ASL?

I'm not sure, I was thinking about that the other day. Wiki says that there is International Sign, influenced by ASL, common signs known to most people, and influenced by EuroSign (the European Sign Language). It is usually used during Multi-national conferences where one or many of the present members are deaf.
