Dragon Storm
Default   #65
A drone hit a tree and spun into a child. Said child is now going to have a prosthetic eye for the rest of their life. There have also been other incidents. Largely because you don't need a license or some training to fly a drone.

We don't have massive celebrations like that often - Boomsday being an exception - so a drone over our area is more creeper/stalkerish.

Oh dear. I didn't realize the slicing power of these things. Why do people fly drone so close to another person though? Apparently you're not supposed to fly them within 50m of anyone, and definitely not over groups of people.
I think the parent and the child should count as a group?
How do people see a drone to fly it anyway? With the camera?
I don't think there's any open space for people to fly drones where I live. Is it safe to fly drones over the sea o.o?

Boomsday day. (*google search*) Do you live in Knoxville? I think that if any drones flew that day they'd get incinerated @~@

Mmhmm. Me too I didn't take into consideration of the fact that they were spinny things. It's like a fan is very dangerous if you stick you finger in it by accident.

I'm not surprised by the fact they could hurt people. The ones we gave away at the office Christmas party had controls with a view screen on them.

Oh! So flying drones is kind of like playing a video game--albeit with real life consequences. It's suddenly a little scary that Amazon's considering using drones to deliver goods...

But still. You think you could see the thing going out of control from miles away and duck for cover...

Person 1 is watering the garden
Person 2 is taking the mail
A whirring sound ensues
Person 2 turns around: Watch ou-
Person 1 gets hit in the back of the head

Hem, well maybe that won't happen since there's a pilot and all.

Well getting hit in the back of the head seems a lot better than losing an eye!

But it's still pretty bad if there is a huge gash in the back of your head... D:

~.~ Yes, the back of the head is better in the way that it's better to break a leg than lose one.

I just don't do blood very well.

For example, one time my work was hosting a blood drive. I had to walk through the room where it all happened. I was starting to get sick seeing all the blood being sucked out of people and put into a bag. I am getting sick just thinking about it. *shudders*

I get scared from other people's blood. Also, the way you described it makes it especially, uh, horrific sounding. I think I'm okay with blood in sterile looking containers, but not so much with it leaking everywhere and causing a mess, mixing with the skin and all.
I don't mind if it's my own blood though. Somehow @~@

I was strong though. I do not pass out/faint or puke easily. XD

Whenever I get my blood drawn, I always close my eyes. And open them back up when it is all over.

I could definitely give blood to save a life of a loved one in an emergency though!

I also do this when I am on a roller coaster approaching a huge drop. XD

The ones that Amazon is planning to use are automated.

Automated? That's not a good thing is it? Unless they have super intelligent Ai.

I mean, that's the point. Automating delivery services means faster delivery times, and less expenditure on hiring people to truck things around. It wouldn't make sense to basically have one person doing one delivery at any given time, which is what would need to happen if the drones /weren't/ automated.
