-shrug-

It's pretty safe to assume that there are still plenty of unnamed wandmakers out there.

Hmm... I guess.

I've got a wand question for you: While the elder wand is obviously the most powerful wand in the world, what wand would be the second most powerful in the world? The least powerful?

There are too many factors in that to really give a proper answer, and even the elder wand's status could be debated, depending on the circumstances involved. There's so many different things that matter. The combination of wood to core is important, yes, but so is the craftmanship involved, the kind of magic being used, the wizard that owns said wand, the bond between the owner and wand... There are so many variables that, while one can say that certain combinations are better than others, I would be hesitant to say that there is a best and worst.

If you really want examples, though, a unicorn and apple pair would be useless to one that does Dark Arts. Chestnut and any more volatile core like veela, kelpie, or kneazle would make me cringe, too.

Yeah, pretty much. I want to sleep so badly right now...and I probably should. So part of me feels like an idiot for choosing to stay up for no particular reason. >.<

Yeah, probably. Last thing I need is to pass out all of a sudden....

Hmm... I'm starting to think I'll never break my record for number of hours stayed up in one go... Oh, well... Guess it's not meant to be...

The elder wand is the most powerful because it is made of elder. Elder is a very power wood yet is said to be cursed. It is the only wand able to restore other wands fully. And another source of its power is its core. Only a skilled wandmaker able to accept death can handle thestral hair. There is only one way to break its power and well you know it. So yeah.

Any volatile core makes me cringe. Because the wand would be pretty annoying to use u.u kelpie hair isn't volatile. Its an inferior substance to unicorn hair and so on~

The issue, though, is that neither of those materials, wood or core, are only used for that wand. Considering how many tries have been made to make another like it, I find it unlikely that the same combination wouldn't be done again, even in a less functional form. Considering it doesn't have any of the urge to try and stay with its owner whatsoever, even before its loyalty is won away, and that it can be taken and used by someone that hasn't earned its loyalties, AND EVEN THEN its power is ONLY at its highest with someone that can face death, I have doubts in the claim of most powerful myself, as powerful to me... Well, let's just say that it seems as conditional as any other wand.

Kelpies are dangerous and violent, I'm pretty sure you know that, considering you helped my research. xD It stands to reason that these traits wouldn't just not exist when the other cores have mirrored traits as well. Lack of power is definitely not the only issue, and violent to me constitutes volatile as well.

All other attempts wont work properly because there is so many things that are required to make it. Seriously. People don't understand how hard it is to make an elder wand. I say the original elder wand is the most powerful wand. And I stand by that statement.

The wands made from kelpie hair actually aren't that volatile as you might think. It works the same way as the three main cores. Just not as powerful. Yes they are violent but so are dragons.

Let me try to explain better

Veela hair is volatile because veelas are very temperamental beings. Tempermental means pretty much crazy mood swings. Kelpies are not temperamental. They are just violent and pretty much love to kill. See the difference gall bb?

If we assume it really is from Death himself, then yes, most powerful, nothing can really compare. But, looking at it logically, it's a wood that's used in other cases, and a core that's used in other cases (albeit more rarely). Unless that story is absolutely, without a doubt, 100% true (because you know people are super amazing at keeping truth through the years), then there really is no argument anyone can make. But if for just a second we consider that maybe there's a little wiggle room... All I have to say is that had to be one HELL of a tree, and one HELL of a thestral.

As for the dragons, they are powerful, hard to control, and therefore considered dangerous, yes. But they are also perfectly able to be kept and bred. They HAVE to be contained and kept track of to maintain secrecy, but that only begs for incidents and prejudice to build up. If not for all the force, dragons would be perfectly content having nothing to do with people. On the other hand... Kelpies are supposed to actively hunt them, right? That strikes me as a huge difference right there. Huge, and very important.
