i've litraly been littel red ridding hood fo the past coupel of years when i even got teh chance to dress up fo rit... i made a red cape out of soem soft felt like meterial because haloween is cold here.... usually just wear a skit with tights under it and bots with a white shrirt and soem of thsoe arm warmer type glovess and have a basckit....

In highschool i didnt have money fo ra good or neat costume... so i just wore dark cloths blakc makep and a pai of devil horns >c< it was fun to mes with the teachers becuse i wasnt a trouble maker.

I mean, the nice thing about Joann is that we always have really nice coupons, so instead of spending say $60 on fabric for a costume, we can usually drop it down to $20-$30.
The trick is, to have all the coupons: mail flyers, text message, email, and app.
Because if we have a 50% or 60% off coupon, it's usually on all those, so you can actually save a lot.

Purple - there was a time where i would just wear whatever, and if someone asked, i'd say "i'm a witch... we look like everyone else." XD

Kaderin - oh yeah, i know all about the coupons. i get them in snail mail and texts, and i have the app. i don't get them in my email, but that's ok, i get them from other places. i also have the app and get emails from Michael's and AC Moore. =D

Yeah, I get Michaels coupons in my email too, but it's too far away for me to get too unless I happen to be in the area with a friend and have time to stop in. But, I will be doing my first actual sewing project in years (since probably 2000) and my first one with no help at all probably next week. It should be fairly easy. And I have a video downloaded that should guide me pretty easily.

A hopefully very easy tulle skirt. Not the super puffy no-sew variety. I was makinf one of those, but it's too likely to be a safety hazard because of how easy to snag on things it will be.
But one like this only with a black lining and bright rainbow striped tulle.

I managed to download the video and it doesn't look too hard. If I can actually get a lining material that is 54" wide, I should be able to cut the fabric pieces so they're in circles so the only sewing I'll have to do is to hem the lining, and then sewing the elastic into a loop and sewing the lining and tulle on. With any luck it'll work out really well, I am really nervous though.

just take your time, and go through the motions of each step before actually doing it, like figuring out where and how to cut the fabric before you actually do it. it's like that 'measure twice, cut once' adage.

First, I gotta get the fabric. Might buy it tomorrow depending on where all my one friend and I go when we're hanging out. But I will definitely be super careful. I cut out my pattern piece for it already. I realized that I accidentally bought the wrong pattern size, but since I've actually lost weight recently, it ended up being okay. I re-measured myself like 10 times just to make sure.

Nothing wrong with scoping out the quality of clothing you buy. I check for pattern details and any holes or issues before I get something.

I miss the days of scrap bins in fabric stores with oddly cut pieces of whatever that I could get for $2 or less. I used to use them for my peg dolls. When 3 square inches of fabric will make a dress, buying by the meter, or fraction of a meter, is a bit much.

i think my JoAnn's has a "scrap bin" - it's probably just "odd lots" instead of calling it a scrap bin though...

and my Michael's (as well as JoAnn's) does sell fat quarters - which is pretty much an odd quarter of a yard of fabric.

I assume it's something all Joann stores do, but the one I work at does remnants for I think around 75% off the normal fabric cost. And basically a remnant is (I think) anything under 1.5 yards of fabric.
