Ugh. I have accomplished nothing that I need (want) to for Halloween. It was honestly just too cold in my apartment yesterday to do anything more than huddle under blankets. So today I have to try to work on stuff.

Made a dress today for Kali the Hairdorables Hairmazing doll, and then had to poke her stand through the crochet stiches on the back of the dress to get the stand to work anymore.

I...finally started working on the fabric part of my cape for Halloween...and it's absolutely gonna be the most crookedly cut and hemmed thing ever, but the actual sewing part? Not as terrifying as I had made it in my head. Tbh if I had straight edges and a bigger sewing table, this would be pretty easy. Did I mention I'm using chiffon fabric? Nightmarishly slippery.

Also due to laziness and time constraints, instead of a spiral of spiders up my outfit like I initially planned, I'll be just doing a few scattered about on it.

How does chiffon compare to satin in terms of floophy-ness? better or worse?

Den: Having never sewn satin (yet), I can't accurately compare. By floophy-ness do you refer to texture/how it holds it's shape or something else?
In terms of holding shape, satin will be more solid and hold shape better, whereas chiffon, being a very thin, sheer fabric will have more drape and flow.

As far as how it sews...I think with a bigger table (more surface area so the chiffon doesn't keep falling off the edge and messing everything up) and proper prep-work (using spray starch or tissue paper for added fabric stability), it probably isn't that bad. But I have neither of those so...it was annoying, but not impossible though I haven't checked the straightness of my hemmed cape rectangle yet either so it could be pretty awful too.
I imagine satin to be better in some ways like...it's actual material instead of sheer, smooth, easily torn stuff, but worse in slipping and sliding. Will eventually test it out if/when I get into more sewing.

Also...idk. My bathroom isn't actually that bad in terms of temperature. Mainly because it's a small room and there's a radiator in it. Though there is also a vent that goes to the roof that I can't close too, so it balances out and is kind of luke-warm. lol

I know I know, but the blocks against using the hosting are huge!

Ahhhh. See, neither of the apartments I've lived in have had a radiator in the bathroom. And the bathroom's usually over by the door, where they use AC in the outside hallway!

Ooooh yeah, that's not great bathroom placement. Yuck.
On the other hand, my bathroom location isn't great if I have company over tbh as the person has to go through my bedroom to get to it.
One of a long list of reasons why I don't have people over.

Also...I'm gonna have my cape/drape thingy done tonight so I just have to attach a ton of small spiders to everything and figure out how to stabilize my crown so it doesn't slip around and/or fall off. All before Saturday. xP

Floophy-ness refers to how much it slides around and fights whilst being cut or sewn or both.

~Tam Well you're right about that. Swear every time I got pit of the shower freezing cold. My bathroom was near the kitchen. I'd say in the middle of the apartment. Was still cold though. I do agree that that's not a good bathroom placement.


Kaderin That sounds pretty good. You have a pattern or tips? Never sewed a cloak before but a cosplay I was working on needs a lined one. ~
