Unfortunately it is like that for everyone. But if you go to the Item Guide, it has most of the Event, Monthly, and Yearly Items previewed on bases.

There is the item guide for non commons, but it is the basic white background to preview it in the shops.

Thanks Kali. My wardrobe is still kinda limited so it's hard to come up with an avi I'm actually happy with... and my funds are blown to smithereens again. I'm good; went out for some fried fish dinner with the family tonight. I haven't had fried fish in months. ^_^
