I was thinking the same thing.
My beverage of choice is water. Unsweetened tea tastes close to water, right? But I think the main reason I didn't touch his tea was because it wasn't mine. .___. I'm not a huge fan of tea since I'm really bad at making it.
I use two teabags, and then I put too much sugar and milk in and... I drink it anyway :^w it's alright, just cold and sweet. One of my IRL friends has SO MUCH TEA, one time on skype, one of our friends was complaining that he wanted tea, so she stapled tea bags to a piece of paper, and mailed it to him. Now I want tea...

I generally don't think of tea as a stimulant but given it has caffeine, I guess that counts.
I'm terrible at controlling my sugar, also when I make tea. For the sake of my intake I now use sugar cubes (I'm lazy with measuring a lot of the time) even though they cost a little more. It's evened out my tea now, and I found that over time I've dropped it down from two per cup to only one.

I like chilled matcha powder tea. Teabagged tea smells the best though. I never put sugar in tea since I'm not a fan of adding any sort of pure raw flavor.

I'm pretty good at controlling how much sugar I put in my tea.
I just...don't put in any, usually.

Well when your method is to tip the sugar bowl and dump what looks like an appropriate amount, one tends to err on the too sweet side.

But, the only tea I'll add milk to is usually Earl Grey or Lady Grey. It has to be almond milk though, 'cause normal dairy doesn't play nicely with me too often anymore. I use She/Her and They/Them pronouns.

I used to work at a place where we had to make sweet tea like that! I hear that's how they like to drink it in the south!

yeah, the traditional way to make southern sweet tea is to put so much sugar in the tea while it's hot, it becomes supersaturated when you cool it down.

Is it true what they say about tea being bad for your teeth?

I've never heard anything like that. A little quick research tells me that tea by itself isn't bad for your teeth, although it can stain them (which is harmless, it's only aesthetic).
of course, if you put a lot of sugar in your tea, it's just as bad for your teeth as any sweet drink. Really, it's sugar that's bad for your teeth, not tea. https://www.deltadentalins.com/oral_health/tea.html

My wife's from the South. The reason you put the sugar in while the tea is hot before you add the ice isn't because it supersaturates when it cools. You do it because it tastes different than if you add sugar to unsweetened iced tea. Chemically, I'm guessing that the sugar starts breaking down from the heat into glucose and fructose, which your tongue responds to differently than sucrose.
