Okay, here we go~ Gonna type it all up.
This will go in order, left to right first, then top to bottom(Aka, the first three will be the top row in order ,and the last 3 will be the bottom row in order. I'll put the post down with the first race first, then edit it as I go. ~The Asca-Tam~ This is the only race naturally capable of magic left. After the Great Sundering, they held tight to their old memories, and are now the only race left with the knowledge of the ancient Garmal, the mages of the past who themselves caused the Sundering, in hopes that it would leave the ones they sundered away unable to use magic. The Asca-Tam are proof of their failure. They live in a large area atop the Suk mountain range, covered in dense forest, where the plants grow to the size of buildings. From these, they make their homes, curling the leaves from these mighty plants and binding them with vines. The yconsider this an ideal lifestyle, and are quite possibly the most content race in the entire world. Only one other race is present on the same continent as their home, the peace-seeking Gru'ume. There is a known mutation where sometimes, instead of two horns, a single horn will grow from the front of their skull. These Asca-Tam are treated to a training for the Battlemage, someone proficient in both heavy weaponry and magics. They are usually given a pole-axe for use. ~The Elves of Rotwood~ Rotwood is a large, decaying forest that was directly at the border of the Sundering. The elves were the only race in the area proficient in summoning magics, and are the reason for the Familiars' existence in the modern world. The elves are the only ones capable of taking the Familiar to it's Wolf form, where it becomes tangible and can fight alongside them, though they usually choose not to do this, as it then makes it possible for the Familiar to be hurt, and they dislike the idea of this. The Elves used to despise nature, thinking it but an object in the way of further progress in magicc and the mystic arts, but when the Sundering killed much of this last remaining forest and left it dying, they suddenly realized how connected the land and their magic was- as the forest began to die, so did they and their magic. Now, the elves work to preserve the forest, and are a strong tribe of archers, druids, and swordsman, with the most tight-knit community ever to have lived. They welcome all travellers as long as they hold no ill will, and are known to even keep a stock of food and drink for travellers, free of charge, so they might refresh without using up their rations. ~The Toram~ These winged folk have turned to travelling in rag-tag bands of rogues and thieves. They're raised in an unknown haven far from civilization by someone known only as "Dr. Vander", and are released wearing a uniform suit, and handed a weapon. Upon release, they know of one perogative: Take. If it is not yours yet, take it, whether it be a purse or a life. Many see them flying overhead, and mistake them for angelic beings, and then are swept down on by a man with a ball mace. The women are known for sometimes trying to lure men from their homes, before using them for pleasure and then severing their heads and drinking the blood. Upon dissection, it has been proven that the blood drinking has no biological effect, and is merely for pleasure. ~The Gru-ume~ The Gru'ume may look barbaric, but are actually known to be rather peaceful ascetics for as long as they can be. Though, roughly every ten days, they go into what they call "Null Status" where they are completely unaware of the world around them, and often wreak havoc during this state, which lasts for around 45 hours. They have no requirement of sleep, and usually choose not to, hoping that it may lower their energy level so they won't hurt any more people. Oftentimes, when the Null is coming, they will lock themselves away, or hide from society. Physically, there is no material stronger than their bones. If they swing their bare arm at your shield enough times, your shield will crumple first. They have found some peace on the island continent of Galafan, with the Asca-Tam, who have used their magics to calm them a bit. HEre, they are seeking a life of simple peace, and helpfulness, so they may one day come to understand the Null, and maybe "cure" it. They willingly work for whomever they can on the island to try and make it a utopian place, feeling that the only life worth living is one lived for others. They are very strong in this belief, and would fling themselves in front of a snake bite for the oldest of men, or the smallest of children. They are vegetarians, when they can help it, for the most part, and many of the men wear a metal mask over their face, as they have fangs in place of teeth. Many old Gru'ume have reached a state of enlightenment not achieved by many, and one famous of them even perforemd magic but once, without a Familiar at that. Sadly, his spell also drained the last of his life from him, and none learned how he did it. The spell was to purify some water for a starving child. That child would later turn out to be a street robber. Besides that one case, they are completely incapable of magic, and Familiar will not go near them. ~The Mair~ The Mair are violent Xenophobes, believing outsiders merely pests to be "dealt with" if they enter their territory. Some Mair tolerate, even live with, outsiders, and are either exiled or executed for it. They live in a metropolis on the southernmost continent, a large frozen wasteland. Their blood reaches temperatures of over 150 degrees farenheit, which keeps them from freezing. In fact, some people that have come int ocontact with Mair have been burned severely simply by touching their skin, which is covered in razor sharp fur in the first place. When they are relaxed, this fur becomes soft, and rather soothing to the touch. They are passionate about all things, and this has made them both wonderful artists, and wonderful lovers. If a Mair loves you, they REALLY love you, and you will know it. They do not teach warfare, but dance. If you can dance, in their culture, then you can figure out how to incorporate a blade. The yare known for favoring light weaponry, and trying to decapitate their enemies to carry their head as a trophy. ~Humans~ The Humans in this world find the use of physical violence to solve conflict to be repulsive, believing magic is the one true form of combat, as it is based purely in the mind. A group of mages like this were behind the Sundering, and the humans left behind have not taken on the narcissism of their predecessors, but instead are pilgrims and defenders of others. The men are trained in Pyromancy and Light magics, after their Sun god, as he was portrayed as a male. They were the first to come up with the idea for A.R.M.S. As war broke out in skirmishes with some rogue tribes of Mair, they realized that their Pyromancy had little effect on them, and the Light magics were not effective enough to keep them from simply burning the men alive with a hug. so, they thought, why not wear protective suits? And so the Great Work began. They created an armor that was light, but incredibly heat resistant and pierce resistant. The truest shot from an archer with the most well-fashioned flaming bolt, would need a bit of help to pierce the armor. The only true way to physically damage them is to remove the armor, have a very angry Gru'ume nearby, or stab them in the face. The women are trained in Ice magics and Geomancy, magic of the earth. The yare more proficient in their magical abilities than the men, and in fact have led the A.R.M.S. for five decades. A.R.M.S. stands for "Armored Refined-Magus School". ~-Familiars-~ the familiars are strange creatures that elves can summon, that grant the ability to use magic to whomever they attune to. If a Familiar cannot attune to you, none can, and magic is not something you are capable of. It is said that once, the most radiant familiar ever seen appeared next to a Gru'ume who was dying, and allowed the man to cast one spell, any spell, and he chose to use the last of his energy to keep a child from dehydrating to the point of death, sacrificing his own life. The Familiars can speak telepathically to any living being, but choose not to unless they absolutely have to. The elves cannot summon more Familiars, they just seem to appear these days. The Asca-Tam do not need familiars t odo magic. <--Trisphee Kensai--> ![]() | ||||
