I mean....the custom mug that all the vinyl has peel off of except "t" and "o" and the Starbucks valentine mugs that I have no attachment to? Can get rid of.
The cat mug that I've had since I was like 10. Definite keeper.

Kaderin, I've totally stuffed dirty dishes in cabinet, the oven, the microwave and ect. at times. Sometimes for too long and forgot about them.

We just did a purge last spring but honestly, we need to do it again. We got rid of quite a bit but didn't have enough time really for going through everything we wanted to. We rented a small dumpster for a weekend and made it about half way through the house. Not to mention more stuff has accumulated since then. What we really need to do as well is get the children to go through all of their crap but kids being kids, attachment issues. They don't really play with over half of their toys and stuffed animals from when they were little but they don't want to part with them either (ages 12 & 13).

Clothes is a big one for hubs. 3/4 of our closet and dresser is full of his clothes that he doesn't really wear. Some I can see keeping for sentimental value but I'm pretty sure he could get rid of like 1/3 of what he has lol.

For me it's craft and kitchen stuff mostly I'm bad about. I have a real strong desire to reuse and upcycle but never get around to it. The good thing is IF/When I get in a mood to purge I will get it done down to bare necessities and a limited amount of sentimental items. Now, maintaining that lol not the greatest throughout the year.

eventually, i'd like my daughters to go through their stuff. the older daughter has maybe two boxes that have kitchen stuff in the room i designated for her. both of them have kitchen boxes in the kitchen. the older daughter is 25, and her home base is with my inlaws. eventually i'm sure she'll get a place, as my mother-inlaw is looking at somewhere to move. the younger daughter is 21, finishing up her last semester at university, and then i'm sure we'll get more of her stuff/furniture when she moves out of her off-campus housing in april. her plan is to have a future with her boyfriend (i think next month they've been together for 4 years now!), and her stuff will at some point also move out. we shall see.....

I feel a little better that I'm not the only one.
;>.>

Sometimes purging can be hard. I definitely inherited an "I can/will eventually use (insert item here)" mentality and as such tend to hang onto all kinds of useless clutter for forever, which doesn't help.
Thankfully, I don't, for the most part, have sentimental attachment to that many items apart from maybe a stuffed animal or two and ny great grandma's decks of cards (it's a set of 2 decks with horses on the card backs). And they don't take up much space.

Good luck on your potential future purge!

Nope, not alone in that at all. I've had the same discussion a few friends as well.

Thank you and good luck with yours as well!!

Sad to say, I have not even started on my reading challenge yet lol

Just popping in with some fun news...the library I work at joined the "partners" libraries in the state on Feb 1. Which means that we have massively expanded book accessibility for patrons because they essentially can put a hold on any book that we or a partner library has and get it sent to our library for free. Plus they can also use their library card at any of partner libraries to check out books at that library and return them to any partner library, so if people are traveling or visiting family, they can still access books!

Idk how much sense that makes, but I'm very excited for it even though it adds to our already stretched to the limit work loads.

it makes sense, and sounds great for patrons, too.

...i realised i haven't updated my sig or my reading list. I'm on book #4!

not sure if I've mentioned that i have a library card for the neighboring county now too XD

also: my current book is book #1 in a new series. guess I'll read as many as there are in the Bibliophile mysteries, then read the Wishcraft series!

Yeah,I need to update my reading list. Idk for sure, but I think I'm about to finish either book 3 or 4 for the year. Have to check my planner and hope I've been good at updating my "books due" stickers. It's mostly how I keep track of what I've read.

ah very cool.
i use my goodreads.
and I've learned that my library accounts keep track of the books I've checked out, so i could double-check that way as well.

I keep saying I'll use Goodreads, but much like updating my list here, it requires me not to forget.
My library account doesn't do that. (For patron privacy reasons, the accounts only track the books that are currently checked out. Though I know that that setting can be changed by the patron. I haven't tested it myself though so idk how it actually works from the patron's side of it.

yeah, i get that.

my county that i moved from had it on their new site, but i never turned it on. i haven't really explored it all that much on the new county sites, but i don't know if the libraries themselves can see my history or not though.

I don't know for sure, but I imagine most libraries follow similar/the same patron privacy guidelines and, therefore, won't have access to your history.
At my library, if you've set up your account to save previous checkouts, we will get a notification that pops up if you've previously checked a book out and are checking it out again, but we can't see any actual list of previous checkouts.

Ugh. Thought I'd read more books than I actually have this year. I think it's because I keep checking out books and only getting partway through before more holds arrive. Lol
Thought I was good for at least a couple more days, but another hold that I'd genuinely forgotten about arrived today. XP
Need to add an "in progress" list to my reading list post to help me keep track of everything. If I can remember to update it.

And also need to remember to grab some change so I can make copies of a few patterns.
