I am sorry that your work is rough, what do you do? Mine gets rough insofar as I have some 24 hour shifts...5 times a month. *sigh*

I like most of the 10th episodes, most of the 9th and some earlier, but not so much the 11th doctor and latter episodes. There was too much Dalek stuff for me. Every episode was some crisis or other. Things being as they are now there seems little time for a quite cuppa and the Doctor. He is always moving and having adventures with lots of cgi. Not at all to my taste.
I used to have a sig. Really.

Oh boy, that does sound rough. My actual job isn't hard, I work as a third shift manager at Sheetz (a gas station/convenient store/fast food place). But we just have a lot of problems keeping people. We can't ever seem to keep third shifts staffed because no one wants to work them.
I just lost one of my co-managers because she couldn't handle the stress of not having enough sales people to help us out.
My actually job can be annoying at times dealing with all the drunk people on third shift, but I actually like my job. I just wish that I could find people to work at my store who felt the same way.

What kind of work do you do? I can't imagine working that many hours... The most I have ever done is 16 hours straight, and 18 total in a day. (I got to go home and nap for like 4 hours)

I feel the same way, actually. I was never a fan of Matt Smith. David is my man and I was so sad when his generation ended.

@ Annie
I think the third shift is a difficult one for sure. In all of our millions of years of history and evolution we have little function at night. Our genes (I speak in a general sense) are programmed to take advantage of sunlight. Yet there is along the spectrum some people who are fine at night, who prefer the night. Looks like you are one of them? I am. I have a day job but I am going to look for a night job. I do something called remote intraoperative neurophysiologic monitoring of evoked and spontaneous potentials. It's just a mouthful to say I interpret squiggly lines over the internet. Stuff like EEG. And I get to work from home. http://imgur.com/OFFzCko That is my set up. We used to work 32 hour shifts (if you were unlucky), but now it is 24 max and if you have a bad night you can sleep in.

So I thought I would watch the original Doctor Who so I went and googled the first episode and watched it. Very different! I am going to watch the 2nd episode too as it is a 4-part pilot. I was not surprised to find it slower paced and of course there is little in the way of tech other than the TARDIS. Have you watched any of the really old ones?

Honestly, I do not do well on nights and I've been doing them for 2 years. Any days I have off I end up falling into a first shift sleep schedule. I miss out on a lot because I have to sleep while my family gets together or whatnot. I either end up not being able to do things, or I have to leave early so I can take a nap before work. I mean, I manage, I just wish I had a choice in the matter.

That's crazy. A nice setup though. Do you like your job? It seems so much more important than mine. xD It must be nice to be able to work from home.

I have watched a little bit of it, yes. It's on Netflix. I haven't watched all of the classic ones, some are a bit hard to get into, but I do have a great appreciation for them.

Annie I wonder if I overestimate my ability to work nights. I thought hard about it yesterday. I am just not sure if I would like it or not but biologically I get a kick at about 10:30pm that energizes me. Idk, I'll have to think more about it. My job is important only in the sense that what we do helps to protect the patient from adverse outcomes. Our signals when they come from the spine can assist the surgeon to know if it is remaining healthy while he or she mucks about in there doing whatever it is they need to do. I do like my job except when it is really busy or when I am on call.

I watched the first Dr. Who and it was interesting, good in the sense of the old Star Trek episodes. But the second one was very slow paced and some of the dialogue was really repetitive. In short, I lost interest in watching any more of the first episodes. I might skim through them until I get up to the 80's and then watch some more episodes. So I do not recommend the very early ones.

I think I would also hate to be on call.
I mean, working nights is AWFUL, you adjust, but it's hard sometimes because on your nights off, you're awake and you want to do something and everything is closed, and everyone is sleeping.
The hardest thing is trying to schedule doctor's appointments, or get essential shopping done that can't be done at Wal-mart because nothing is open when you're awake. xD
I would go when I get out of work, but that's at 7am and nothing is open then either.

I might look into a 2nd shift sort of thing. Maybe not ALL night long but like from 5pm to 1 or 2am. Don't know if I would like it or not. Argh. For now I am sticking with what I have, haha!

Aside from that, Annie, what do you like to do and watch? Are you watching a Game of Thrones?

The assistants at my work have a 4p-1a shift. I've worked it quite a few times filling in, and I prefer it over any other shift honestly.

I do not watch GoT. I have been told I need to, but I would rather read them first and I'm having a hard time getting into the first book. (I tried so hard)
I don't really watch much honestly. Most of my shows ended a long time ago and I'm skeptical about starting new ones. Since I finally have HBO for the first time ever though, I might start watching something.
My boyfriend made me watch an episode of Silicon Valley the other day and I rather liked it. It actually kept my interest and was decently humorous.

What shows have you watched that ended a long time ago? You've piqued my interest.

GoT is slow reading. I am reading book 2 but am skimming and only reading the stuff I want to. Like I only read the characters who interest me. Hehe. But you know, I am old enough to know when to take time to read something slowly and when I can speed read. It is not a practice I advocate or even do, but for GoT that is the only way I can read it.

I never saw that Silicon show, but I want to. My husband never wants to watch it. I thought it looked amusing so I might press him to watch it to check it out.

Uma; Oh boy. Uh, mainly just older sitcoms, or recently ended sitcoms.
Scrubs, House, Friends, The L Word, Psych, How I Met your Mother, and I'm sure there are more but that's all my sleep deprived brain can muster.

Those are really the only shows I watched from episode 1 until the end that I miss very dearly.

Wow, must say I never watched those shows. Amazing! Not a one. I did not care for Friends as I did not feel a part of that kind of society. I was going to college at the time and I was watching Buffy. I wore black all the time and was a pseudo-goth, haha. Then, lately, I don't watch much. I was watching Dexter but that ended and True Blood. GoT. That is about it. Sometimes I watch HGTV with their Love it or List it, or the first time home buyers show. As for movies...I love Bollywood.

Espy, when I lived in Marin Co. I would see George Lucas around and about in his ....what did he have, a Studebaker I think. 2 of them. But Silicon Valley must not be as exciting. =P
