Well at one point I heard they were having the same problem at Gateway with the soldering? on the motherboard not holding together right so that with normal use? Your laptop dies and there is nothing you can do but pay for someone to fix it.

I might be getting a laptop for 350 but its used a little and has all the extras (mouse, case and like 3 or 4 other things.. lol ) but the normal price is like 500. The person just wants to sell it cause they bought a new one o.O;

Yes. Their "Geek Squad" is the worst customer service I have ever seen. And they should inform you when you buy a protection plan...that you'll have to drive up there for everything -.- Such a waste of gas. A third to a half of the cost of the plan? I had to use that amount to get there and back twice for that shit.

And then all the lying. So much lying.

Thank goodness I have an uncle who can fix mah baby if he ever gets sick then. We don't have a car, so getting out there would be difficult. >.<

And I noticed the lying when we got the comp. Not about the comp, but about a game I'd asked about. They sent me to look. I looked for a good 20-30 minutes. They didn't stock the game; didn't even carry it. -.-

We're repairing it (they replaced it which means I lost 200 dollars overall)
It'll be two weeks (More like 40 days+)
We're putting an escalate? on it so they'll get to it (absolute lie)
I drive up there AGAIN
We'll put an escalate on it AGAIN (Never knew if they did)

Then they picked out a new laptop for me that cost a hundred dollars less than the one I bought. And I lose the hundred dollar protection plan. I hate them so much.

I'd state that netbooks have a shorter life because more often than not they run using flash memory and it can only be written to and over so many times. Laptops don't have that problem since they use an actual hard drive. That being said, with just using it for notes and basic internet, netbook would probably work better for prices.

Brands, have to steer you towards more of an HP, Gateway, or Dell. Asus is even good. I do not recommend Acer in any form or fashion since they seem to be the buggiest laptops and computers in general that I have ever dealt with. Also, might consider getting a Macbook Air since they are really user friendly and more what you would be looking for for functionality.

Well seeing as i bought used brand i had no choice as much as i hate dell (dells from hell hah) it's been good so far, i tweaked it a bit even tested windows 8 on it i wish they had a different mode then the ui they have for wins 8 ... but whatever. So far no issues at all with the dell mini though it would be the first dell i didn't have a issue with.

Fro desktops i'll stick to building my own though.. lol..

as far as buying a Asus i would have loved to but one of them even a small one would have cost me more =/ Really when i get a decent job i want to get a tablet book so i can do my drawings on it and just get one of the light keyboards that are hella hard to find now xD but thats not any time soon....

on the note of geek squad.. do not get me started on them -.- bestbuy will never hire me because im over quilifiied.. hell iim asking minimual wage! i dont want tog et paid for the certification i just want a damn check. Dx ~kicks my luck with jobs~ Also the squad is full of retards here i know that -.-; seeing as they wont hire me i showed up thier main tech a few times hehe....
