I'm against all forms of marriage, no matter who is marrying who? Why? No one takes the vows seriously anymore. A lot of people's thoughts are....Oh...if this doesn't work out....we can get a divorce (or kill the other in some cases).

So I'm for everyone having civil unions and being equal. Just no marriages unless you stick to your vows (and this includes me)

Though, at times....some gay people make me wish that actually I'm not going there. Just know that some gay people set back the entire movement because of being like very religious people and won't listen to you talk. Even if they think you're completely wrong, snapping at the person that is against gays/gay marriage sure as hell isn't going to change their mind. And that's part of the reason it won't pass in every state. I've met one gay person, that if she was the first one I'd met, I'd be a gay basher too, but I also know some normal gay people thank God.

So, gay people of New York, you have a couple of days before you can get married, are you just going to go to the courthouse and be married or are you doing a ceremony? (If I was a gay man...I'd so want to wear a pretty dress somewhere .-.)

I actually had been asked to be married but it wasn't for love it was all for tax breaks (and at the time I was a virgin) and for the sex. Nothing sex (and we we're dating at the time)

I am really happy for all the people in New York. I think anyone who is truly in love should be able to legally wed.

But how long will it last? Honestly I was surprised when Gay marriage was banned in California. Mom hasn't made any comment on these things (as the last time she did it was still legal in CA). But I"m sure she'd be upset at the fact it has been made legal in New York. No doubt leaders of the Religious group are upset as well.

Even before I realized I was gay I couldn't agree with some things she said. I mean yes legalizing marriage is kind of weakening the chances of conversion to christ due to the anti-same-sex platform supported by religious leaders [and NOT the bible by the way].

But really what right do we (Christians) have to enforce our beliefs on them through legal measures? I always believed the State and Church should remain separate. Just look at history...it never really does turn out pretty does it?

I heard that in the past couple weeks they tried to do the same thing in North Carolina, but it was pushed back to September because more people wanted to be involved in voting.

Politicians LOVE spouting out how tolerant and understanding they are yet the fact that this is not widely accepted already makes all of their speeches, lies.

We claim to be separated from church and state but only when it's convenient. If people were serious about tolerance and getting stuff done, this would have been news YEARS ago.

I really wish it HAD been done years ago. It's really sad that in this day and age when we are considered the 'land of the free' that we do not have these sorts of things legal yet. America is supposed to be all about freedom.

Although my current workplace said I could try transferring so I'm going to do that and I bet I can, so I think the job thing is settled. It's just finding a place to live
I will probably HAVE to move in with someone seeking a roommate, the last few times I've tried to get an apartment on my own I've been rejected for bad credit history. >_<
I will remember that though! Where is the rally being held? And what side is Raleigh on?
I used to live near Asheville, I actually wouldn't mind moving back there, I really liked it. But I don't have a real -reason- to so...

I totally and completely agree with you here - It'll be a cold day in hell before I agree to marry anybody. The symbolism of vowing to spend the rest of your life with someone is nice and all, but that nice picture of two people staying together forever was shattered with the invention of divorce. Like all things in this world even marriage is about one thing only: money. Having equal share in it, having rights to it, blahdy blah.

But that being said, I am happy that at least one state has recognized the LEGAL and FINANCIAL rights that its citizens should be allowed, regardless of sexual orientation. And for those people out there who do still believe in upholding marriage vows to be with the one you love, I do feel that this fight should make everyone think a little harder about just what it means to be true to someone for better or for worse.
