Chi, you are not a weirdo for putting things in mashed potatoes. All the things you listed are what I usually put them in if he/she wanted in there. I put salt and pepper, little bit of milk if it's little too thick, garlic seasoning pepper sometimes, chives and sour cream. It can be anything. Like bacon bits in there or pieces of sausage is also fine.

I remember when I was living on my college campus last year the norm with mashed potatoes was gravy.

I don't like gravy, the thought of it makes me feel sick.
