Well that depends what kind of tale you are reading.
Grimm ones definitely would sabotage you but thousand and a night ones weren't really evil i think? At least you got a decently fulfilled wish but not the best interpretation of it i think?
I loved that tv-series that were about thousand and a night.
It was funny the Aladdin tale especially. Crappy ring genie and mighty lamp genie.
I wish i could remember what it is called and there is a torrent of it. xP
