Sorry I haven't been active these last few days. I tried typing a message last night and fell asleep on my phone. If I had hit "submit", you guys would have thought I was typing in some alien language >.<

I got bad news on Tuesday when I took my eldest kitteh, Sassy, to the vet. I thought she was just going in for a teeth cleaning, and possibly an extraction of one of her teeth due to an abscess - but I got a call shortly after they got her knocked out (vets have to use anesthesia on kittehs for dental work). The infection was gone (she's been on antibiotics for two weeks), but under where the infection was is a huge cancerous tumor that has taken over her gums, lip, and bone on the right side of her face. Thankfully, it doesn't seem to be causing her any pain (the infection that was on it was causing her pain, but now that the infection is gone, she's actually acting normal).
Taking care of her is going to be a full time job for me now because she has to have her food prepared a special way so that she can eat it without hurting the right side of her mouth. So far, I've been making warm "soup" with her normal dry food and warm water (she loves it, and it gives her nutrition and hydration in one). As the tumor grow, she will most likely have to go on wet food again (that's what she was on when she had the infection). I'm still giving her antibiotics to make sure the tumor doesn't get infected again, and I have pain meds for her as the tumor progresses.

The doc said she has between 2 weeks to a month left. My husband-creature wanted to have her put to sleep on Tuesday, but I just couldn't do it. I'm not ready to let go... and I will do everything I can to keep her comfortable and happy as long as possible. She still gets around just fine, and purrs when I pet her and snuggle her- and doesn't act like she's in any pain at all, so I think I made the right choice. I just don't know what I'm going to do when she does go.

I'm not good with the loss of my kittehs- I've lost 4 in the last 4 years (one each year), and I literally lost it when the first of Sassy's littermates died in '09. Her other littermate died last February. She's the last of the three... when she's gone, I fear that the weight of losing all 3 of them will crush me to death. I have 5 other kittens, whom I love VERY much, but Sassy and her brothers hold a very special place in my heart. I don't know what's going to happen, to be honest.

ono I'm so sorry to hear that.. I cried for weeks when Tom Cat died.. ;-; I still cuddle a photo of him every once in a while. I don't handle losing my cats very well.. I get attached with in minutes. I wish I had gotten a picture of Tenshi. She was this cute kitten I found.. orphaned.. some jerk ran over her mother. I took her in but she was sick... next day we rushed her to the vet and because we didnt have the money to pay them on the spot they put her to sleep... she coulda had a chance to live but no.. =(

I wish there were a way to save your kitty. What I would do... Is make a kitty album for her and take LOTS of pictures during her remaining time.

Aww, I'm sure he'll return it soon. And if not, just keep reminding him and hopefully the reminder to bring it back to you sticks in his head to the point where he can't get it out and decides to finally bring it back to you? P:
