Aha yes. XD I used to be a huge Kuro fan, and especially Grell. Though I am still a fan, I'm not as big of one as I used to be. :( But I had some fun times. XD (And might bring Grell back out someday lel)

I did take a bad photo tutorial series of pics that I will attempt to upload and share while I am at work and can utilize one of my otherwise useless previous phones (the one I drowned, which still mostly works, but is unable to be reactivated).

Shitty photo tutorial incoming!

A section of knitted scalemaille is done in 4 rows.
Row 1: place scale on first peg and knit off. Knit second peg. Repeat to end of row.
Row 2: purl back to first peg
Row 3: knit first peg, place scale on second peg and knit off. Repeat to end of row.
Row 4: Purl back to first peg.

Placing a scale:

Place crochet hook through scale from back of scale to front


Place yarn across the front of the scale and pull through to form a loop at the back of the scale.



Place loop on peg, tighten the loop so the scale is snug against the peg, and knit off (move bottom loop on the peg over the top loop).

yeah, for standard knitting or crochet, you would treat the scales like beads, and prestring them, then position them as you go...

I've never done it myself, but I've seen plenty of patterns that state that... and as for the scales, I'd imagine aluminum would be more durable.

I've used glow in the dark plastic scales for jewelry before. You have to be really trying to break them to be honest.

I use aluminum. I have seen people use plastic, but the aluminum just has a more authentic dragon appearance in my opinion. I have seen plastic ones used in other projects though.
And I did have a friend ask if I could do a purse with the plastic glow in the dark scales once. I never did make it though since the scales cost more than I could afford at the time plus, based on her previous reluctance to pay a reasonable price for a blanket, I figured she wouldn't want to pay for it.
