Fortunately that only happened once, but it was irritating. I was more the employee that was the issue though, then the boss at that point. The super had to leave for a moment and the rule is if there is only two people and you are on break, you come right back in if the employee out front needs help. Then you go back and take the rest of your break. At least the customers were mostly forgiving. The labour pool in the area is very small so people expect that, but it can be somewhat trying. The morning staff has 10 people, after noon has 3. Afternoon isn't as busy but it does get it's rushes.

I remember a friend who had a similar situation, except that store policy prohibited there being only one person on the store front at once. He was the only one there because of understaffing and got fired because he was the only one working >.>;
