"Hope I never did what, have sex? A virgin prostitute? Boy do I have news for you." He giggles and snickers, "I've gotten my do on so many times that the girls at the playboy mansion look like nuns compared to me." He lets his giggles die down, but it takes a moment. At first, it almost seems like he didn't hear Vincent's last comment.
"Hey man," He finally responds, "I'm projected to live long enough to see the evacuation of the human race from this planet, if we don't all nuke ourselves to death first. You've got to have a bit of humor, or life gets boring awfully quick." Always Accepting Commissions! Commission information here

Vincent's brain was, apparently off on a tangent when he said that one earlier. Or he wasn't thinking about an alternative meaning. His brain is fun like that. He blushes as Liet keeps on talking. He shakes His head a bit, not wanting to think about that one. "I find like is...boring either way." Of course, with him isolating himself and running, that makes a lot of sense for him. Of course, he doesn't think about whether life is boring or not too often.

"Well it won't stay boring for long." He grins and rubs his shoulder, "The car ride there might be though. It's a few hours' drive, so I can't blame you if you nod off, but when we get there, you're gonna love it."

Is it bad that a part of Vincent wants his life to stay boring? He's used to the boring. He can easily deal with the boring....though it is mind-numbing...it isn't all good. "What's this place like?" He can't help but ask. Liet's tastes and his might be a bit different so he has to ask.

"Well, it's kind of freaky, but pretty cool." He smiles, "It's kind of stereotypical, but you have to navigate the sewage system a bit before you get there. Then, you climb some ways down and there's a kind of city under a city. The court of miracles, I've heard it called. Some people call it Hell. A lot of people just call it home." He shrugs, "But we don't have a name. It's a real safe haven there, you can use magic freely."

Vincent tilts his head a bit as Liet talks, lifting an eyebrow a bit. "Sewage system?" That's unsanitary to say the least....and he can't help but think of Futurama a bit. Even if a person doesn't have a home, they can't fully escape media even if they wanted to. "Why is it called that?" A court of miracles? That's a little bit too cheesy for him really.

"Nobody ever checks the seweage system." He nods, "It's such a cliche that nobody would think to seriously look for a city there. Not to mention it takes some magic to open the door there anyways, so you couldn't get in there by accident. And court of miracles is kinda cheesey, but it's an old reference. I think it comes from french slang, and it means the ghetto or something. And lemme tell you, it sure does look like a ghetto." He snorts a little at the thought. "Anyway, it's not too big, it's mostly self sustaining because of the magic users down there..." He shrugs, but he's smiling, as if it's a fond memory. "You don't have to stay there if you don't like. We could get you settled above ground. Most people prefer being above ground anyways. Less of a stink, but you have to keep secret about what you do. We're just going underground to meet with a friend." He speaks the last word with his jaw clenched very slightly.

Vincent nods a bit. "I can't really blame them." He says...he probably wouldn't check either to tell the truth. "What magic?" He just wonders how the door opens and everything. His curiousity doesn't die, it just takes a brea now and again. He looks a bit confused about the French slang bit, but it isn't that important or anything. He nods a bit again as he listens to Liet. "Ah....can't blame them too much if they can't get used to the smell and all." He doesn't know if he'd be able to deal with it for long. "...why do I have this feeling that this friend isn't much of a friend?" He may be oblivious about certain things, but he can notice that much at least.

"It used to be that the door responded to earth magic. I think they changed the door to respond to just raw magic in general here a few months back, but I still have trouble opening it, that's why Harold is here." He shrugs, "He'll probably leave us the moment he sees his work is done. He could probably teach you to open it on your own at some point."
As Vincent mentions Liet's friend, his eyes narrow and his smile fades into something more sour. "I serve under a certain lady who doesn't like the way I do things. She'd much rather I seal myself up underground and work as a doctor there. I have the impression she rather resents my seniority..." Always Accepting Commissions! Commission information here

Vincent just blinks. "Why was it Earth magic?" He has to ask....not everyone would have been able to do that so he has to ask. "Why do you have trouble opening it?" It makes no sense to him since Liet can control his magic and all unlike Vincent and all. He eyeballs Vincent a bit, not sure if he wants to be alone with HArold to learn that.
He edges away a bit at Liet's face. He doesn't like that face to say the least. "Um....okay then...why would she want anyone to do that?" The sealed up underground part that is.

"Well, it was earth magic because that's what was used to carve out a space for a city to begin with. The door is just this unimportant section of wall that you used to have to push with earth magic. The new system is set that, at the presence of magic in a certain pattern, the door opens on it's own and closes after so many moments. I think I have trouble opening it because Light magic is very lightweight and whispy. It's sometimes hard to detect and the door just doesn't detect it every time. It's not anything I can help, light magic will always be pretty lightweight. I also wonder if it doesn't have anything to do with being bonded with a demon. My traces of magic are vastly different than yours. For one, I have a signature that is a different 'language' than yours, so the door tends to read demon magic as a misfire or failed attempt to open."
"I think she's bitter. She's young, smart, ambitious, but very bitter. The world up here hurt her too many times, and she's of the view that everyone should just lock themselves away. It's like a plot straight out of X-men if you ask me." He sighs and shakes his head. Always Accepting Commissions! Commission information here

"Oh....okay then....that makes sense." To Vincent it makes sense, though it obviously has become outdated. "Is it bad....that I can only think of Harry Potter at the moment..." He likes to read, even if he isn't always able to do it as much as he'd like. "Well....maybe someday they'll change the door or something to where you can do it...where it can read it or something." It's a version of technology in his mind...just involving magic...and technology is always changing.
He just sighs at the explanation. "If everyone was like her, no one would trust anyone....and that would eventually turn to violence probably."

"Oh, I'm sure the door will change." He bobs his head in an attempt to seem wise and sage. "It's just a matter of how much longer will I have to rely on everyone else to open it for me. Most the rest of the magic technology in the city works just fine for me, it's just that one door..."
"Well, she doesn't want everyone to be like her. In her mind, too many leaders would result in chaos, and she's right. She's just one of those people--she has an us or them mentality. You see it a lot everywhere--from sexists to feminists, liberal or conservative, black or white, everyone's got some kind of us or them idea in our head." He sighs and shakes his head, letting his hair fall into his lap and not bothering to fix it at all. "I just don't like that particular point of view is all." Always Accepting Commissions! Vincent chuckles a bit. "Well, if I learn how...I'd let you in." He says simply. "Why would the rest work and not that if they're all the same the way?" He's just wondering at this point to tell the truth.
"Well, I meant in general, not leaders, just people with that mentality." He doesn't see it that way, unless someone is attacking, then that can be a good thing. To make sure they don't lose and all. Though there's got to be somewhere he thinks like that, but he can't find it right now. (Is it bad that I just thought about how Liet would react if Vincent was turned into a child by magic gone wrong or something)

"Well, nobody updates the door as often. It takes a while and it's just not seen as necessary sometimes. After all, if it's harder to open, then it's doing it's job." He shrugs. "It's just laziness. Everyone's putting effort into working on the city itself, not the door to the city."
"Well, not everyone else thinks that way, and that works for Marcy." He sighs obnoxiously loud and lays his head on Vincent's shoulder. "Nobody expects the rest of the world to think like her. Just the fact that she'd dare keep me from doing good works--it disgusts me." He offers the chair in front of him a look, as if it was covered in vomit and he didn't want to see it anymore. "Yeah, but not updating it could, eventually, cause it to be a weakness as well." Vincent says, thinking about it a bit. "Well, hopefully they'll work on it eventually....because what good is anything else if some can't get in and all?"
He ends up kind of petting Liet's head after a moment or two. "I'm glad the rest of the world doesn't think like her. That would be a bit too much." There would be too much violence and all. "Well....don't let her then?" He doesn't know what all is tied to it and all though.
