Martians Horror Movie Hangout [M] | #1
Hello gals & ghouls I wanted to make a place to talk about horror movies. I loved the convos I read about Interview with a vampire and figured, what the hell, lets talk about scary movies. If nothing else this is another shamless candy & aurum grab. Or another thread dud. Which is fine either way.
I had some basic ass start up questions to get things flowing. Answer in any order and feel free to skip questions OR just pop in say hi, cause general anarchy, you know. Do you. NOW THE QUESTIONS Whats your favorite scary movie? Why is it your favorite? Who is your favorite scary movie killer/villian? Who is you least favorite Killer/Villain? Which do you loke more monsters or people who act like monsters? Whats the most memorable death scene? Whats a horror movie you hate? Who is your favorite horror movie heroin/hero? Who is your least favorite horror movie heroin/hero? Pyschological thrillers, basic ass thrillers and anything deemed closlely related to horror is allowed.(IE Army of Darkness, even Halloween Town, i dont give a shit) If you dont like scary movies all that much, even better I say! Tell what it is about then you dont like.

Mdom what could you possibly be scared of? I just assumed you had some sort of rainbow prism power But if you do know, what is it that scares you about them? The blood? The jump scares? Just all of it? Lol

Can’t do jumpscares. I’d like to be able to enjoy horror games, but, just can’t do it. And ever since anxiety became a really bad problem, I haven’t been able to handle too much of a creepy ambience, either. Which makes sneaking around in most videogames a little... bad.

Thats okay guys lol Horror movies aren't everyones cup of tea. I have terrible anxiety too. When I was a kid I watched the creature from the black lagoon and couldnt sleep for days. But now I love that movie lmao
If you guys don't like scary, how about just Halloween themed movies?

I love comedic horror movies -- Shaun Of The Dead, Army Of Darkness, Bubba Ho-Tep, This Is The End... I also like the scary ones. Planet Terror sort of rides the line between funny and scary.

I don't think I have a least favorite killer, but personally I've always thought the trinity killer in the Dexter series was pretty overrated. He comes across so pathetic and his story is full of plot holes. Let alone the fact this guy is of way too disturbed a mind to display such a high level of functionality when he's not killing.
And I can't look at Darth Vader the same way again either after seeing his "fall for the dark side" was some sort of moody teenage rebellion.

my least favorite killer would have to be chucky. Dude your a doll, and the revamp movies are just awful. Whatever very little clought Chucky had was set ablaze in that dumpster fire of a movie (The Cult of Chucky in case nobody asked for it)

Horror movies generally don't appeal to me but I can appreciate the occasional humorous one like Witchchylde. I'd also say if the characters are interesting enough, it might be worth watching. But I can't think of any examples at the moment.
One I did like was May. It was pretty low budget and awkward but I like the dark humor and quirkiness that it had. Even Roger Ebert rated it 4 stars. Bride of Chucky has its moments as a comedy.

Yeah these are all pretty great! May was refreshing in how ridiculous it seemed, but so ridiculous it worked. I loved her tortured soul lol
And I felt the same exact way about Darth Vader DBM. Moody teenager describes him perfectly. His backstory was weak ass hell. Comedic horror movies get watched at at every opportunity. I can qoute every line from both Shaun of the Dead & Army of Darkness lol

Yeah. I mean, I do love a good corruption story. People fighting temptation for a while and then finally succumbing to evil is interesting to watch in fiction. Same way I love it when a villain switches sides or a character moves around in a constant grey area of moral ambiguity. But if it's done badly, then I'd rather not have it done at all. I'd have been fine with Vader just being big bad evil guy without a backstory. *shrugs*
Just watched the trailer to May and Beetlejuice. The latter seems so goddamn weird I think I'll love it ^^
