Hats! *bobs heads with hats*

I tend to like series books...though it is more "the book needs an interesting world for me to get lost in"
Dragon Jousters - where else do you get a swamp Atlantis fighting a Roman Egypt over dragons and sling shots?), Heirs of Alexandria (Renaissance restructured with Hollywood magic...Library of Alexandria saved by magic, etc...Elvenbane (Elves are indeed the feared folk, summoning inter-dimensional demons and enslaving the human race with siren music and fay might), Sovereign Stone Trilogy (The rise and fall of a sociopathic Prince of the Void...in a culture with monks who tatoo important events on their body and embalm their dead as a sort of book...and halflings who are also strong in nature magic and guarded by a warrior-honor clan...dwarves who are the horsemen tribes, and the fall of High Middle Ages kingdoms to be replaced with a Late Middle Ages complex...
Yeah...

I just realized, Lord of the Rings is one of the few series I've read more than two books in. The other that I can think of off the top of my head is the Animorphs series when I was younger. I've also read Interview With A Vampire and Queen of the Damned by Anne Rice. I tried reading the Dune series (the first three books, mind), but my brain wandered and I lost interest.
I use She/Her and They/Them pronouns.

Sovereign Stone written by same as original Dragonlance
<.<

Hmm...Never could get past the halfway bit of Vampirates...built a mythos (a bit like Pirates of the Carribean), but ruined it with angsty drama...
Oh, Crosspointe! I love Crosspointe. A seafaring island nation (dominate because the seas have sentient monster-making mutagens, and they have the only compasses to sail around them)...attacked by an Aztec Rome. It is Victorian adventure-romance, where the king's line is bound to the sap of the bramble in a magic oath to defend the kingdom...the monsters are regaining sentience...other societies are being pushed as refugees before the Jutras...and a war between material-based magics (blood vs. mutagen)

*nerds out over books*

Oh yeah. I read several of those when I was a kid. Think it was the base story about the friends, up to where Raistlen(sp) decided to go black. I thought Tasslefoot was a hoot. The one where he wound up on the moon had some utter hilarity in it.

Oh yeah. I've read... three 'Dune' books, I think. The first one, the one where the twins were born, and the one where the brother of the twins met his final fate.

----------------------------------------------

But yeah. I bought 'Nausicaa'. I'm not even a manga reader. I mean, I bought the last book of the new 'Atom' series, and was happy with that much of the story. And 'Nausicaa' is bloody, and weird, but the way the author writes... It's a compelling story for me. And like Law said. Other worlds. One of the mild autistic symptoms that I have that has manifested from early childhood is a love of the pattern of "differents". So worlds that really use the imagination catch me. I'm told that in my own writing that world building is supposed to be my strength.

I AM still working on buying all of the 'Tommy and Tuppence' books from Agatha Christie. And I was trying to buy all of the 'Oz' books, but I wanted them to match, and two of the books went out of print before I could get them, so now the books that I did get are shoved away somewhere and forgotten.

Mind you, I think part of the not wanting to read a long series is my need to own the books, and my not having space. Though I have got a KOBO now, and find it enjoyable to read from too.

So, next Wednesday, I have an interview. If I get it, and can make it at least a year, I'll have a good shot of getting away from my parents for good.

I just remembered, my friend, Claire (Yes, the same one I'm trying to help raise funds for) pointed me to this link. It's got the entire Warriors collection. Claire recommended starting with Into the Wild, as that's the first book in the series.

Welcome. Haven't read those books myself. Someone told me I should, though. Are they good?

Ohhh. Man. I wish you the best. I actually got several books into that before I gave up on it. ...Okay, maybe it was two. I think it was three? But they're such fat books that even reading two has to count, no? LOL

Anyway. Welcome to the best and nerdliest corner of Trisphee. Watch out for that one bookshelf. It can be cranky sometimes.

I remember another series I finished! 'The Belgariad'. And 'The Malloreon'.

Wheel of time is wonderful! Now that I am done with college I can go back to reading for enjoyment only and it is wonderful! I'm on uhm uh. . . bookkkk. . . oh shoot. The first of the three ending books, whichever number that is!

I'm also into Phillip K Dick at the moment and am trying to decide which book to read to my bf on our upcoming road trip!

Huh...may need to read him (Philip). Surreal realism in characters is up my alley-cat.
(Is still in college)

That book, according to wiki, would be "The Gathering Storm"

...I just found out that the term "Kalachakra" is a similar term to "Wheel of Time" and is part of Tibetan Buddhism...this is mainly relevant as a game character was called the "Kalach-cha"...I dare say Obsidian Studios/Forgotten Realms games have that sort of humor...giving Red Wizards of Thay a play on Maxwell's Demon (Entropy problem...with Souls!)

Oooo I didn't know any of that stuff! I learned a bunch just now o3o

My final semester in college consisted of 5 English courses. I had to read 2.5 books a week! I learned a lot of interesting new authors though. Phillip was one of them, we read Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep which is what the movie Blade Runner was based off of. I like the book better though because his driving force was to have a real animal, which they totally left out of the movie. Albert Camus was the other author I really liked!
