I joined a month or two after it went up... I think... August '08?

It's not the site so much as the community. It's not a tangible difference but the atmosphere seems more... down, than I remember it being in the past.

I usually stay for good communities and turn a blind eye to the aspects I don't like but Solia, over all, isn't pleasant to me anymore.

The ads don't really help the site either =P
But yes, it could use a 'pepper' since it gives this... 'lonely' and 'sad' feeling too when I look at it.

The ads are probably what triggered my decision to leave, especially since I can't adblock them and keep all of the site's functionality. :S

Yeah and it's kind of nasty you have to donate to make the ads leave. That doesn't make sense.

It's a horrible invitation for newbies.

Yeeah. I'd almost be fine with that if it weren't for the fact that a lot of people who go to avatar sites have very small pocketbooks, or are from foreign countries whose currencies don't translate into dollars very well.

Indeed, and not everyone is able to pay through Paypal. And of course they could always try to buy it from other users, but I find it very expensive. It's even more than one monthly donation item.

M'yep. I actually logged on Solia today to send all my items of value to a charity a friend is running. All my money I poured into the the site and I'm giving it away. xD

I don't really regret it, but it still feels weird giving it all away.
