Stargate...is a great big world...

Dark Shadows was sort of the original supernatural daily life series. A Dracula-style Vampire rises, an innocent boy is cursed with lycanthropy, the private investigator is made into the Vampire's servant, a crazy immortal Witch in a murderous love/hate with said Vampire, the Vampire's dead younger sister (ghost), and all...in the 1960's.
"Gothic Soap opera"...
Though then there is time travel, parallel timelines (of the Higurashi variety, if I remember) and the Lovecraftian Leviathans pushing their way in.

Which one? I daresay the Dark Shadows movie wasn't as good as the series - can't fit 7 seasons into a movie. The various Stargate movies are interesting, though...if panned by critics.

Oh, do you remember this real cheesy Sci-Fi Horror movie about Nazis using radiation to make a blue hulk? That was a guilty pleasure of mine as a 12-year-old. SS Doomtrooper. That and Dog Soldiers.
And yeah, that's what my mom did up until it switched to SyFy. :)
