I had a hell of a time with mine, mostly because I usually let characters dwell in my head rather than write intros or detailed stories about them before I actually intend to use them. If I do bother with a character sketch, it's usually point form. Not condusive to meeting word counts.

You need 3 things- Motive, history on the planet, and someone they know in the group.

any of those things could make them fight here =3

Well, it's preferred if you just make someone up, but you could be like me and just be all like "Oh, yeah, I saw Taiye on the battlefield once, and now I want her to sire my children."

ok well i didnt mean go that far i was more of meaning something simple like crossing paths maybe or something or aiming to be as good of a fighter they were xD

I was just giving my comedic exampleto say that you can do jus twhat you said- Crossed paths, you admire them, etc., etc.
