In need of new books | #1 | |
I have a few books in mind to read. But I really want more to go after. My friend told me about an interesting series, but I read pretty fast so... I'll need something to read after that! I can read practically anything. Just suggest. I can read big books and small books. Currently though I'm looking for some zombie books! I'm in love with Brian Keene. if you know any other similar authors... tell me of their existence. Oh god... o Ao I'm also really interested in anything Watchmen related. If you know of any novels, tell me? I might not be aware of one. I'm also down for anything Alice in Wonderland related. That's all that I can think of right now. call me grem they/them

Maybe I'll just list the books I bought recently from Borders....
Sable Quean (Brian Jacques) The Dark Elf Trilogy (R.A. Salvatore....Suze will probably facepalm about this...) The Black Prism (Brent Weeks) Vixen (Jillian Larkin...I haven't read this one yet) Other books that I read a while ago: Operation Red Jericho (I think it was by Joshua Mowll...I'm not sure how easy it is to get your hands on a copy with full maps and illustrations...) The Attack (Yasmina Khadra. This was for school >.>) Brave New World (Also for school....slightly disturbing o.O;;) The Legend of Holly Claus (Not sure about the author) Graceling (Forgot the author too...) If you want some truely awesome zombie books, check out The Zombie Survival Guide and World War Z.
The Zombie survival guide is like a wilderness survival guide but with zombies. World War Z has a bunch of short stories about a world wide zombie outbreak.

I'll second Salvatore, as I like him too. I only read his Drizzt books (he has other Forgotten Realms books as well as some of his own stuff) up until the Hunter's Blades trilogy because I got tired of his writing by then and didn't find his new books as good as his old ones.
One advantage of Salvatore is that he comments a fair but on what has previously happened when it comes to particular events, so one can pretty much pick up any book of his and not be too lost no matter where in the series it is. My favourite Drizzt book is The Silent Blade. Though for that one is it good to have a bit of a background. Salvatore also wrote a five book series called "The Cleric Quintet" about a priest named Cadderly who also appeares in his other books from time to time. Many people I know think the Quintet is better than his Dark Elf books. It comes in an omnibus version, as well as the single books. The first one, Canticle, tends to be the hardest to find in my experiences though they've all been reprinted since I last read them.

For my own part, two of favourite books of all time, and relatively short and easy to read, are Frankenstein, or the Modern Prometheus by Mary Shelley, and All Quiet on the Western Front by Erich Maria Remarque.
If you happen to pick up Frankenstein and read the preface, don't let it scare you. There's rumour it was written by Percy Shelley adn it shows it. It's something of a pain to get through but the book itself is quite easy. I'd love to read more Erich Maria Remarque books but finding anything other than All Quiet that isn't either German or really expensive hardcover edition is proving very difficult. I've been keeping an eye out for years and have only found one other that I've yet to read, and I found that in my mom's massive book collection while sorting it.
