"I drank a lot of milk actually. I'm average height for a girl, thank you very much!" She frowned, only half-concerned by her height difference to him. When he mentioned the idea of going elsewhere, she smiled eagerly and jumped gracefully off the railing, landing on her feet- though, admittedly, one leg was bent as one slid to a halt to catch her.

"I'd like to see it if you don't mind leading the way. I like seeing places I don't know in the area. Living here most my life made it hard to find as many interesting places as when I was younger." Smiling quickly, she looked upward to see him clearly. "Shall we go then?"

He smiled, "Well then I guess I'm just freakishly tall." He moved one foot off the railing and 'stepped' down quietly. "I'll have to carry you actually. I'm sure you can't climb a multi-story building without somehow breaking inside and using the stairs. Since I discourage criminal activity, we'll have to do it a different way."

He smiled, picking her up with both hands, one supporting her back and the other under her knees. "If you get motion sick, I would suggest closing your eyes. You've never moved this fast, and that I guarantee."

"What? But I wanted to run!" She whined slightly. Never could Chloe remember being carried, especially by her own free will- and usually, when it happened, she would squirm. However, she was a tad too nervous to do so at that point, her hands covering her mouth slightly from the anxiety provoked by the simple gesture.

"I'd rather not break into a place either. But this won't make me any less nervous..." The words were mostly to herself, but she said nothing. "I don't get motion sick. No need to worry..."

Nicolai chuckled slightly, "You can run on the way back, how about that?" He quickly peered around to make sure there was no one around to see. "Hold on" and with that, he ran. Being a vampire he could obviously run much faster than any human could hope.

He passed by a dumpster in a nearby ally, jumping up onto it and using that as a boost to make his way up to the small restaurant's roof. He made his way roof to roof, slowly going higher and higher above the city streets. After a few minutes, he stopped and set her down.

They were atop a cooperate office, he never bothered for the name, that was an impressive 6 stories high. They were on the other side of town now, but from here you could still see the coast, along with every building in between. "Well, what do you think?"

Chloe took a step forward, though not going over the roof with caution. Her hand adjusted to cover her forehead slightly, sticking outward as though she were saluting someone in the military. Using this, she was able to better focus her view on the coastline, her smile growing quite large as she tried to find the bakery.

Pointing at the alternate roof she found, she smiled. "I can even see the bakery from here! You can tell by the big donut on the top that it's our bakery. None of the other places in town have one that's handmade and easy to tell it's falling apart like Richard's!" She giggled a bit, lowering her hand to stretch it behind her back, adding the one saluting from her forehead and leaning over. "I never knew there was a view like this if you got really high up! Even a ride at a park wouldn't have anything quite this nice! Do you come here often?"

Nicolai placed his hands in his pockets, smiling as he watched her. He stepped over to stand next to her, gazing out at the city, "Every so often. More often than not I come here to just sit and think." He couldn't help but continue to smile. Seeing, and sensing her being so happy made him quite happy himself. "I know you don't like to sit still, if when you do, do you have a favorite spot?"

"Actually, I do my best thinking in the kitchen...Or at my mom's grave." She turned her head downward slightly. "I tend to try not to think too much, but when I just need to do it, I usually go visit mom's grave and think out loud. Sometimes i feel like maybe when I do that she's guiding me to answers, even though I know in the end she isn't really doing that. It just helps. Or I can cook. Cooking is always something that helps me."

Nicolai nodded, "Perhaps she is helping you. You never know. No one knows what happens after death. It could be very possible." He shrugged a bit, shifting his weight to one side. "This is nice," he whispered, mainly to himself.

"I love the weather today," She replied, giggling. "Mom would've liked it too." She took a seat on the ledge without really thinking about the possible danger. She looked upward to look at Nicolai soon after that. "It's true that we don't know. But it's not like she says anything to me when I talk to her. I sort of just work it out while talking. So it's hard to tell. But...It makes me happy either way."

"As long as it makes you happy." He looked down at her for a brief moment while she spoke, then back to the city. "I don't even remember what my parents look like." He paused for a moment, then sat next to her, oddly enough with a soft smile. "It was the somewhere in the 1600's when I last saw them."

((Brain farts happen sometimes, don't feel bad :3))

"To be honest, I only remember what mom looked like thanks to the photos. I never met my dad so that's all photo based too, but much older photos." Chloe giggled a bit, smiling to him. "But... It must be hard being separated for so many centuries from your family. Do you ever miss them? I'm sure they were nice people, if you can be considered as way to judge that."

She softly dangled her legs over the ledge, kicking back and forth slightly as though she were trying to walk. "I've lived in this city ever since I was a little girl. I was born and raised here... I don't know if I could handle living here for hundreds of years though." She looked back up at Nicolai. "Did you live elsewhere ever? Or always here in this city too?"

He nodded a bit, "ts incredibly difficult for me. Its...astonishing to think that I won't ever die. Its such a strange feeling I don't think I could explain." Mulled it over for awhile trying to see if he could explain it...but the words would not come. He let out a soft sigh.

"I've lived in many cities around the world...but eventually I don't think ill be able to keep it up for much longer. I can change my hair easilly enough, I know a few people who can hook me up with social security numbers, but I just can't change my facial structure. Sooner or later someone will notice. Its one think to look like someone, but with todays technology they could easilly match me up with hundreds of my other identities." He glanced at her for a moment, "the fact that I appear no older than my late 20s means I can't stick around in any one place for long."

"I can't imagine something like that. I always felt I'd live in this town my entire life...But my life is to end someday. I don't have to worry about whether someone will notice my aging pattern since mine is the same as all other people, generally. It seems like it would be hard having to constantly move about just because one isn't the same as the rest..." A deep sigh escaped her lips.

"You'll always be welcome here though, at least by one person. If you ever need a place to hide during my lifetime, you're welcome to hide with me. It'd be more fun then it would be trouble, I assure you."

Nicolai chuckled softly, "You almost make it sound like I'm a criminal." He leaned back on his hands, letting his hair fall from his face as he looked up at the half moon. "But thank you nonetheless...I would say the biggest hassle of it all is founding a house I'm satisfied with. Large, Victorian mansions are hard to come by these days. More often than not, they're either some sort of bed and breakfast thing, or museums."

He sighed slightly, "I wouldn't say being immortal is all bad. I've been able to meet some fantastic people throughout the ages. Not to mention the vast amounts of knowledge I have gathered. I love learning. It keeps my mind occupied."

"Occupying the mind too much can make you lose brain cells though, I've heard. The more you learn, the more you forget." Chloe smiled at him slightly, though it was somewhat of a smirk mixed in. "And no, you're not a criminal- though people may assume you to be like one if they knew your secret, you know. Not everyone assumes immortal creatures exist. And a majority that do either want to dissect them or are deathly afraid of them. So...It's sort of a dangerous thing as is isn't it? To be honest, in a way it seems harder to me then being a wanted criminal."

"But it's nice that you still like life the way it is. I've met some who absolutely hate how long their lives are. They say it gets rather boring..." Chloe shook her head. "I don't know how I'd feel about living forever. I think I'll just take life as it comes. I have my dreams...But they won't live forever. I'll get tired of it someday most likely. But it's good to have something to enjoy even if it won't last forever. Right?" She smiled at Nicolai.

"Cooking is something that I learn more and more about every time I do it or taste something new. I'm always learning because of it. And it helps me get to know others by how they react to the food or how they make it. So someday I may have to stop or I'll forget things like you might if you don't take some time to stop learning and retain stuff too."

"It's a very hard thing to adjust to. When I was first turned, I simply could not accept it. The logic of it even being possible still escapes me, but I try not to think too much about it nowadays. It's too complicated even for me." He was silent for a few minutes, thinking about what she had said.

"What first brought you to cooking? Other than your landlord. Have you thought about doing it before hand? Or did you admire his work and decide 'I want to do that'?" He sighed a bit, "I imagine you're right though...perhaps that's why I can't seem to remember much of anything before the 1800's."
