Well, Discord didn't pan out, but it doesn't matter: I'm no longer unemployed! I got an offer from Posit -- and they actually ended up offering me more money than I expected, so added bonus!

Have been going to more concerts lately, and getting to see my favorite band a few more times and meet with them. It's been amazing every time. Now I get to go watch them record their next album in front of just a tiny audience, since they are going to do it in one take and it will involve some other special experiences they haven't revealed yet. Have overcome a lot of fears throughout this process, including flying on my own to go see them and now get to go do it again.

On February 5 of 2025, I ordered two fountain pens. On came a week later, and then the other one arrived two days after the first fountain pen. They are Pilot vanishing point and the other a Hongdian D5 Qin Dynasty. I can't upload files, sadly, so that means no pics.

Saw a hawk on the way to work today. Had my arms kinda full, so I couldn't get the greatest pics, but sharing them anyway.
I think it may be a Cooper's hawk, but am not 100% sure. Either way, it was pretty cool.

Ludum Dare 57 was a real emotional rollercoaster but I'm very happy with the end result!

Watching the band record an album was awesome. Got to be a part of the chant that will be used for the album and my name will be in there. Also wound up in footage for their blu-ray that came out not too long ago.

The scores came in, and I am quite happy with them. My "Fun" scores have been pretty bad in the past so I set a goal for myself to try for a 3.5.

I've been really busy lately. @.@ But in a good way.

I've gotten a lot of praise at work. I took the initiative to make a tool to help collect and organize all of the legal disclaimers for the open-source software that goes into our product (which itself has an open-source version). It ended up being a lot more complicated than I expected, and it's taken me a month of work (including a lot of unpaid overtime because it was surprisingly fun to work on so I ended up losing track of time in the evenings) but people have been excited for it, including my manager and one of the VPs.

But what's currently got me feeling even more awesome than that:

Rocky Road

I don't know how I wrote this or when I learned the skills. I can't stop listening to it. It doesn't sound like I wrote it. It is a massive leap beyond anything I have ever composed before in every way.

It makes me kind of giddy, to be honest. I've wanted to be able to do this for 30 years -- I'm still using the same music editing software I used in 1998! -- and now I've proved to myself that I can.
