Actually, Donkey Kong never actually prevented the princess from leaving on her own, if I remember right she was actually walking around by him when Mario goes to 'rescue' her. So it might be possible that Donkey Kong was actually just guarding her. .-. By the way, I never played any of those games either. x'D
