breast reduction | #1 | |
I'm 18 years old and I have enormous breast. I'm above a size G. I don't know if I should get breast reduction or not. There is a lot of things that scare me about doing it and I'm also scared not to. I just want to know what you guys think about this or whatever. I'm so confused and just afraid of it. My body really can't support them and they keep getting bigger. And because they cause so many problems I keep gaining weight because I really can't work out without the pain hitting. I have bad knees, ankles, and back. But I'm afraid if I get it done I won't look right. Like ill look super fat and disproportioned and no one would like me.... idk ><

You are worried about the wrong things. A breast reduction is a good thing if you don't feel comfortable I know it will help your back pain and probably your knee pain. If the people you currently hang out with don't like you after wards they don't care about your well being and aren't who you should be around.
I have had two friends and several family members have a breast reduction and there are a few risks, like having it before children because they would get larger again. Also your nipples may have to be moved depending on how much smaller they will be, there is a chance they won't retake enough to breast feed if you have a child, it is a known risk and why most women either choose not to have children or have it after they are done having children and breast feeding. You won't be able to wear a bra for a while, i believe 2 weeks or so, until the swelling goes down at least. And depending on the size of the reduction you may have bandages to change for a while (2 weeks plus) also their may be scar tissue if you don't heal properly, but I still haven't seen anyone have it in my circle. Also if you can ever afford a tight lacing corset (they run at least 100 buck) it will help hold up your breasts and make your back feel better temporarily. In my opinion if it will help you feel better both about yourself and physically you should go for it at one point. If you want to have children and breast feed I would suggest you wait until after you have kids.

I would say that you should consult a doctor. It would help your body out. It would relieve your back and slowly work it's way down your body.

Then if you don't want to breast feed I good state get it a cup size or two smaller than you can handle for the rest of your life, incase they grow that much in pregnancy.

A friend of mine had a reduction from a G down to a C when she was only 25. She was not a skinny girl, but a C cup seemed to look more natural on her (weird, I know- surgery made her look more "natural"). She did have scars for several months afterwards, but they did eventually fade. At first, she was really self conscious because she didn't think she would attract guys any more (she was a hard-core clubber), but guys still found her very attractive. Plus, would you really want to be with someone who only likes you because of your breasts?
I'm older, and a tiny bit wiser now, and I would totally have breast reduction if I didn't have rheumatoid disorders that screw with my healing speed (it takes me about 6 times as long to heal after surgery than a "normal" person). I don't even know what my true cup size is. I squeeze into the DD bras that I can find at Walmart. I can't afford to go to a fancy place to get a real measurement and a properly fitting bra. Tiva is SO right about wearing a good corset. Before I gained a bunch of weight (before my last two surgeries), I used to wear really well made over-bust corsets that I found in a lingerie shop in the big city. They were about $75 back then (around 2002)- and worth every penny. They really helped my back! The only problem was the fact that I was limited with what I could wear them. I found a specialty store that caters to large-breasted women- but it's got two drawbacks. One, it's in Phoenix (at least a 2 hour drive from where I live). Two, their corsets that can be worn with regular clothing start at about $225 :/ That's about as much as my husband-creature earns in a week. But, my back pain is getting to the point where I think I'm going to have to bite the bullet and start saving up for one. I'm disabled and on Medicare- and to them, breast reduction surgery is "elective" and not covered. Between that and my slow healing rate (I've had two surgeries since becoming disabled), it just isn't an option for me. If you have the money or the insurance to cover it, I think you should start talking to doctors. Just keep in mind what has already been said - your breasts WILL grow when (if) youdecide o have children. Also, your breasts ares probably still growing now. I was totally flat chested until I hit 23, then *BAM* I was a D-cup overnight. Hi! I'm Kat! Hey Asami! I agree with the others! Breas Reduction is not a bad thing. Especially if they are hurting ou. I'd discuss this with your doctor too. I had a friend in high school who was a bigger girland had a size G or higher I forget but they were HUGE. she got a reduction and her boyfriend stilladored her andshe was in a lot less pain. andit didn't look odd either. I think she went downto like a C or a D.
I've been thinking about one too actually. since got diagnosed withg my Crohn's Disease went from a small C to a DD possibly higher. I neeed to go in for afitting. it'd make.y fiance sad sure, ut he'd rather wasn't in pain. sorry for my crappy typing lol yping on a Kindle is difficult!!!

Turtle, I feel your pain. I do almost all my internetting on my DroidX (phone with a touch screen that only responds to body heat touch). It's a pain in the butt, bit with as much bandwidth as I use per month just on my phone, it's worth it.
I didn't even know you could use a Kindle as a browser o_O Hi! I'm Kat! Anyway, when going for those types of surgery cosmetically always know the risks being on the table as well as the cost it takes to perform that sort of operations

Statement you may also have it covered by insurance if there is a medical reason, three of the people i know had it completely covered or partially covered by their insurance. One was military insurance I know, the other two i don't.
It isn't a cosmetic surgery if you are in pain and go through i legitimate doctor. It is bettering your quality of life.

@Asami: Considering you're having a lot of problems brought on by the size of your breasts. I think it would be a good idea for you to get the reduction. Your quality of life will change for the better. Once you heal from the surgery, you would be able to work out and your body will proportion itself so you look right. You will definitely feel much better about yourself since you would be able to do things that you cannot do now because of the size and the pain it brings you. If anything, definitely talk to your doctor about your plans and he/she will be able to help you with going through with it. ^_^
Hopefully whatever you decide to do, you will be happy with the decision. :) ![]()

I know about that, Asami. I'm small myself (just barely a 36B,) but know a number of larger breasted women and the jokes that abound. Two of my relatives have had breast reductions. The scars are underneath the breasts on the bottom following the natural curve, and one did have her nipples moved. I think it's a fairly routine thing but there are risks with every surgery and your doctor is obliged to tell you them all. It might sound scarrier than it really is.
