Warm Weather And Insects | #1
It's that time of year again around these parts, where things start getting warm, all the new generations of critters and crawlies come skittering out, and many of them — for reasons beyond my comprehension — decide to come snuggle up in human homes instead of their comfortable, food filled outside world. What a wonderful reminder of spring when you least expect it!
... Except this time. This time, I was bitten. By a giant, finger long, fat as hell, pitch black... caterpillar. Let that sink in for a moment before reading my tragic tale. I'd found one in the kitchen yesterday. It scared the hell out of me because, at first, I had no idea what it was! It took me a minute to figure out 'hey, that's not a roach, it's something I actually like!' All well and good. I released it back to its outside world, and went on with my evening. So, just now when I went to fix myself something to eat, I found that either he, or one of his friends, had come back to pay me a visit! "Oh, hello, friend!" I said to this fuzzy mass. I put my hand down to let him crawl on so I could let him outside as well. Instead of doing what I kindly requested it to do for its own benefit? It bit me. Yep. Thanks, bugs. I love you, too. Bug stories anyone? ... Who the hell gets bitten by a caterpillar!? Honestly! ![]() ![]()

Are you sure it wasn't a centipede? You know some can be poisonous! I'd take a benadryl is I were you just in case.
I got bit by a spider in 2009 and a five year dormant diagnoses of lupus that was stopped by a stem cell transplant in 2004 ~ came back ~ IN FULL FORCE! Because I was bitten by a flipping spider. I had to get another stem cell transplant. I used to be nice to the little babies - now I squash them, because I don't want to land in the hospital again after having what could have been the most allergic reaction in history besides dying.

I am very, very, very, VERY positive. I have seen centipedes, and I have seen thousands of caterpillars, and I know which one this was, lol!
Wow. That REALLY sucks. Poor thing. ![]() ![]()

I'm pretty mush used to it - diagnosed when I was 16. *shrug*
But one of the main reasons I moved out of Florida was - the place was teeming with huge flying bugs I didn't know the names of. *oh no sir!* I left as soon as I could.

Oh yes, the flying ones will get you any day. This early in the year, we've already seen some mystery bugs, bees, and a fair share of oriental roaches. Yikes!

... That is not related at all.
And, Faux, they're big and black and live outdoors and can fly. Will fly. At you. ![]() ![]()
