So, I've seen the movie, and just recently started the TV show and the books.

I would like to discuss all 3 versions of the Mortal Instruments series as I read (and watch) them. Right now I'm on chapter 2 of the first book.

The movie was very fast paced. And apparently screwed a few things up near the end,or so I heard when I went looking to see if there was more to the story and if a second movie would come out. (which is why I downloaded the books but never got to them)

The TV series which just started in January (Netflix has it for EVERYONE except the USA) I don't have much of an opinion about except that they have changed the ages of the characters. I kinda hate it when that happens. Other then that, I don't have anything to say so far.

The Book. I'm on chapter 2 at the moment that I write this. It's the original story so I will be able to get ALL the details.


Like most books to movies, i like watching the movies first then read the books to pick apart things they got wrong or just changed.

I know of 2 other people who know of this series.

The Mortal Instruments series is a part of a bigger series known as the Shadowhunter chronicles. It's actually the second part but its the more popular part. You don't need to know any of the other parts to read the Mortal Instruments.

I've only read the Infernal Devices Trilogy, disliked the main character through the whole thing, then stopped reading anymore.
What kind of character is the main character of this series?

Clary is the main Character in this series, she's alright so far. Not much character development in the first book if you ask me.

She was raised as a normal human, her 'sight' was hidden from her growing up. So when she starts to regain it things just start going wrong. She's trying to go up against things with out even learning how to fight (book wise) in the TV series, they start teaching her combat stuff. >.>,

I've taken notice she isn't as 'bossy' in the books like she is in the TV show. She's more likable to me in the books.

She sometimes comes off as 'damsel in distress' where other times she reacts on instinct.

I'm actually on the hunt for the City of Lost Souls, because NONE of my damn bookstores have it. u.u;;

And Clary is whiny. As hell. I thought Bella [Twilight] was whiny, but JFC, Clary..

Magnus is my favorite character. Magnus, and Luke. xD; As much as I love Jace... -drools-... Those two are the most likeable characters to me. xD

to be honest, i find it followed the book a bit more than the tv show seems to do. o3o, it was just way too rushed. TV show, changed a lot more things than the movie did.

I like TV show Luke =w= he's smexy... BUT I LIKE MAGNUS BESTEST! so sassy x3
Alec is my second favorite...

after he got over his thing with Jace and Clary..

I actually like the changes they made for the show.
ONLY because it gives them a little more free reign with the story, and I'm not totally adverse to seeing where they go with it.

except for Simon turning so early on. That... that I wasn't okay with.

And the way they portray Valentine.

I think the whole turning him early, they got that from the movie. I wanted to see Rat Simon D:<

I like both the TV show and the movie. I like the movie cause it followed the book more closely.

When i read reviews when looking to see if there'd be a sequel, i read they went too fast and messed stuff up and that a TV show would be made to fix that. When I saw that it didn't I was disappointed in one way but happy in another.

I want to see Magus and Alec get together! (read the wiki info on the characters, I'm not that far into the books BUT I KNOW THE SIGNS!

What day does the TV show air? I found a site to stream what I could find o3o I'm waiting for episode 8

I wanted to watch it off Hulu but free users are cut off the first few episodes after the show gets so far.

that and free users can't turn off ads and for some reason my adblock wont block hulu's ads..

SO, I'm in Book 2, where Simon turns into a vampy. ouo will he loose his glasses like he did in the movie, or will he be keeping themz? x3 nyaa can't wait to get farther.
