Sometimes when you click a boat...no little thing pops up to tell you what you were granted and I still can't find what I was granted.

But it does count it as a play.

I didn't see my aurum count change or anything. And I can't find anything in my inventory that's new -goes to look again.

The site seems to be lagging a bit right now for some reason.

When you click on a boat try waiting a few minutes for the pop up with your prize to come up. It's done this to me.

Yeah, with apologies, there's nothing I can do about the server being slow. I've made sure that this event is a lot less server-intensive than the last one but there's still going to be some delay in high-traffic periods. As DK said, give it some time; I can't imagine it taking longer than around 30 seconds.
