Amelia Marie Diederich

Amelia took an apple out of her bag and started to munch on it while she made her way along to her AP Physics course. It was a bit hard for her to grasp the concepts of the course, but with the after school help she had been doing was working.
She walked up to the door and found that the class was cancelled for the. It made Amelia sad. She peered through the classroom door to see if her professor was still in the room. To her luck she was in.

Amelia knocked on the door and the teacher came over and opened it for her. "You do know the class is cancelled, right?" She gave a flat face, watching Amelia shake her head yes.
"I was just wondering what you were working on that you had to cancel class, but still stick around." She tried to peak pass her teacher to see what was happening in the room.
The professor rolled her eyes but let her. "Well, it's a portal." Her teacher was blunt and to the point. It was the biggest thing to like about her besides her breasts.
Amelia stared at the machine, not understanding what her teacher had really made. "You know about the particles we have been talking about in class, well this is where most of it comes from." Amelia had only remembered bits and pieces from the class, but she nodded yes. "It takes our particles and throws them some where else. Where... I am not sure of, but I bet if we try it together maybe we can get it?" She smiled for the first time they had been in the room. "Should we wait for Mr. Richardson?" Amelia's mind flashed a darling imagine of Donnie through her head. Amelia was unsure of her feelings toward him, but she at least knew they were good feelings. Feelings of warmth and trust.
"I think we should wait. He is usually late right?" Amelia smiled her real smile as the the teacher and student waited for Donnie Richardson, one of Amelia's only friend.

Donnie was always late to class. Just so happened he was also most of the time late to his remediation type time after class in AP Physics. Things always just got in the way. It was either that or he just didn't want to go for the entire time. He rarely got in trouble for it either which was a surprise. The physics teacher was much cooler than most of his other teachers and she wasn't that bad to look at either.

Donnie finally walked into class to them talking about some type of particals and machinery. He knew that their professor had been working on something big but he didn't have much other information then that. All he really cared about was getting his grade up to passing.

"Finally here, I see," His teacher said he walked in. He smiled and she continued. "I want you guys to stick around. No cleaning or anything today."

Donnie nodded. He hated cleaning anyways. Their professor then explained quickly again about what she was doing. She was creating a portal. It was something that she had been working on for quite some time. Now, though, she thought she could actually finish it.

Amelia watched Donnie from the corner of her eye as the Professor explained the particles again. "Do you guys think we should power this baby up?" The women walked over to the big on button and was planning on hitting. Amelia's curiosity kicked in and nodded. The professor hit the button.

It was a small tear in the universe, but it was still something. Amelia got excited, there was nothing else like it in the world so far. They have been only talking about such things, but here she was in the room of one of the first portals were ever made. "Have you put anything in to it?" Amelia's eye lit up, everything was just so neat.

The professor shook her head no. "This is the first time it has actuality worked." the excitement in thew professor's eyes were great, she was going to be famous.

Amelia just felt like it was her duty to experiment with the portal. Since well that was the reason she was there. To learn more about Physics and such. And she had just the right object for the trail and error, an apple core. She tossed it once in the air then threw it in. It disappeared with a vroomph into the portal. "Well at least it is a portal and not some illusion of light particles." Amelia smiled seeing that the Professor really had something going for herself.

Donnie watched expectantly as the apple core was thrown in. It was pretty amazing what the professor had so far accomplished. A lot of people in the world were working on the same thing. It was a college professor that had done it in the end though. He smiled. "So how are things suppose to, say, come back, exactly?" He asked only slightly raining on their parade.

"Well," Their professor said with a small glint in her eye. "That is what I plan to find out before going to the Science Boards around the world. That is one of the last things, besides making it bigger which all I have to do is getting a bigger caliber, is to find out how to come back,"

It took a bit for Donnie to realize what exactly she had said. The fiery professor was planning on jumping in.

Amelia Took her professor's words to heart and tried to come up with an idea for her to figure our how to come back. She didn't quite catch that her teacher was going to jump in. "Well maybe we should see what things look once they go through..." Amelia trailed off as she thought about what she could tie to another object.

She took off her belt and then asked Donnie if he had one. She then knotted them together so they would not come a part. She then took a pencil and shoved it through the belt hole. "Well it's not much but it should at least give us an idea of what might happen to the things on the other side." Amelia slowly got closer to the portal and held on to the opposite side of the belts to the pencil. She then tossed the pencil in trying not to get to close.

She felt a slight tugging on the other side. She was slowly being pulled closer and closer to the portal before she asked for some help. "Uh... the force is a bit stronger then i am." She gave a small smile as the Professor came over and started to tug on the belts with her. The belts started to come out as Amelia's curiosity rose. She started to lean in to see what they looked like, but she started to let go and the Professor couldn't do it by herself. Amelia snapped out of it and grabbed back onto the belts, almost giving the Professor a heart attack. The belts finally came out of the portal. The professor quickly took them over to the microscopes and examined them. Amelia walked over to see them. "Anything wrong with them?"

Donnie smiled at the excitement and curiosity flowing in the room. They were all three there for different reasons, but they all wanted to see what was happening. From the looks of the belts they were fine. He moved closer to them also wanting to know. "Its fine isnt it?"

The professor looked up with the same glint in her eyes. "Theyre perfect. Nothing seems wrong at all," She smiled as she touched the belts lightly. It was time for the perfect test. Herself.

Donnie watched expectantly. He wasnt sure if he was right about what he saw in her eyes. He glanced over at Amelia. She didnt seem to see it. "Proffessor-"

For Amelia her excitement only grew. "This is soo cool. What happens next?" Amelia's eye were wide waiting for what would happen next. It soon dimmed as her professor smile and said 'me'. "But.. but you can't go in, what if something wrong happens?" The professor smiled once more before answering the grim question.

"Well that is why you two are here, right? you are going to make sure nothing bad happens." In her mind though she knew she would be going into this portal whither they were there or not. "I have some rope and what we will do is tie it around me. I will then walk in." The professor took the rope and tied it around the desk that was nailed to the ground, then her self. "I believe i am ready. are you?" She stared right at the two of them in hopes that they would not mess up the plan. Amelia nodded, unsure of what to think.

The professor slowly walked into the portal, she was soon gone. The knot the professor had tied was slowly untying. Amelia was staring off into the portal waiting for her teacher to reappear.

The rope soon fell slack before their eyes. Donnie's eyes grew at the sudden change. What were they going to do? They were only students afterall. What would happen if their proffessor never reapeared?

"Amies, she didnt mention any remote or anything before i was here did she? How... how is she going to get back if the rope just untied?" Donnie asked. He knew it was a crazy idea but their professor wasnt going to stop. Stepping forward he grabbed the rope and tugged on it.

The end of it trailed through, no woman attached.

Amelia's eyes just kept growing wider and wider. "No remote. No professor. What happened? How are we going to get her back? How are we going to pass this class." The questions just kept coming as Amelia got more and more sad. "We have to do something anything. WE are the only ones that know." She thought for a movement or two and started to write a note. It was an apology letter for leaving everyone. She sighed then handed it to Donnie.

To sum up the letter it mostly read of how sorry she was and that she some how knew this is what she had to do. It spoke of her jumping in after her. It was crazy yes, but the worst that would happen was she would die and this would not be the first time she has thought of such awful things. At the end she had signed her name. "You can sign to if this is how you feel, you can also turn the paper over and write something of your own. Or you can just watch me go in. Either way I have to go in there. I feel like i have to get her, and i don't much care for my life she was the first to get me excited about it, besides you..." Amelia's voice soften a bit when she spoke of how much Donnie meant to her.

She grabbed her bag and got ready for the portal. "So are you with me or not?"

"Amies," Donnie said softly as he heard the affliction in her voice. She was a very strong girl and he admired that. He probably would have went insane trying to pass if it wasnt for her. He then turned and signed his name on the paper. This was it: the changing point in his life, he could feel it. Was it just him or Amies as well?

Donnie layed the pen and paper down and nodded. "I think we might want to pack a few things first. Hold on," he commented. He left and got his bag. In it he put in some water bottles and small foods and a few other necessities. They wouldnt know what would be on the other side and it was good to be prepared.

Coming baci in, Donnie nodded to Amies. She was firey and he could see it in her eyes. It was something a lot of girls didnt have. It was attractive to him.

"I hope this works,"

Amelia watched as Donnie backed her with signing the paper. It made her heart feel warm that he was going to be coming with her. "Thanks." She could feel that this was going to be something big, there was no turning back and she didn't want to.

She watched as he left the room to go get things. She wondered what he was getting and decided to look around the room for anything that might come in handy. She found flint, string, random papers (she looked to make sure if they were important or not), and took a picture with her phone of the teachers notes, just in case they became helpful. It might be their only way back out. Though she didn't understand them much. She took a few more looks around the room to see if anything else was of use, but Donnie came back and that meant he was ready, and so was she. "I hope it works too." She smiled at him and started to blush with the safety measure she was about to ask him. "I think we should hold hands, so you know we won't get separated." Her face became a bit more red, but was trying to hide it. She didn't really know why she was feeling this way, but she knew once all the excitement was over she would go back to normal, hopefully.
She held out her hand to Donnie and held her bag as well. She securely tighten it around her, but she was unsure if that would be enough. She walked closer to the portal as she was ready to jump in.

Donnie's hang clasped around hers tightly, but not hurtful. They didnt need to get seperated. All they could see was the portal. They had no idea what was beyond it or even if they could ever come back. They had to try though. It was for their professor and the name of science itself.

Donnie stepped forward with Amies and then right into the portal.

It felt wierd. It felt like they were moving and not moving at the same time. It felt like they were streatching and space and time was changing before them. Over al though, it was indescribible. Donnie couldnt breath. Everything was changing so fast it was turning and whizzing.

Donnie finally felt everything stop and he allowed himself to let go of Amies. He simply fell to the ground, dizzy and near to puking.

Amelia Marie Diederich

Amelia enjoyed Donnie's firm grip. This was it. her life changing event. She went through the portal.

It was a weird feeling she couldn't place. Everything seem to move and not move all at the time. She felt ground and no ground. She could move and not move.

It happened to quickly for her to get use to and once she felt real ground, she felt much better. Donnie let go of her hand. They where both kneeling over facing the earth about ready to get sick. Amelia slowly stood, being careful not to over do it. One small move and she was going to hurl. She looked around at her surrounds and found herself to be on earth. There were trees, rocks, and small animals. Familiar animals like squirrels and robins. "Hey Donnie are you ok?" She turned to her friend and helped him up. "I think we are still on earth. Maybe in a forest?" She looked forward and found a trail lending to a brighter place. "Day time? I think we should mark this spot." Amelia took out a knife and carved an X into one of the sides of the tree, with an A and a D. She felt like she had to mark the fact she was here with Donnie. "To you think this is where the professor ended up?" She looked at Donnie wondering if he was thinking the same thing. "Maybe we should look around for any marks of her..." Her voice trailed off as she could hear a horse drawn carriage driving their way.

The horse was big and beautiful. It had a white diamond on it's head, that seemed to stand out amongst it's black fur. The horse stopped right in front of Donnie and Amelia. "Wooh, What are you, blokes, doing in the middle of the road?" Amelia looked confused at the horse as it lips did not move but words seemed to be coming from him. "uhh... We are just lost. Which way do we go?" The horse nodded it's head and neighed, stomping the ground with it's hoofs. "It is just a bit farther west. If you like to come, it is fine with me if you come along for the ride." Amelia smiled at the horse and walked around to get into the carriage. She then noticed the small old man sitting and holding the horse's reins. "It's ok for me to go in right?" The man spoke a yes and she continued to get in. "thanks"

Once inside the buggie she turned to Donnie. "You know that horse sounded a lot like the driver." It then hit her that it was the driver speaking the whole time. Her cheeks started to redden as she started to feel more stupid. She had just kept her mind a bit to open for this world. She turned away and stared at her hands the rest of the ride into town.

They arived shortly and the little old man opened the door for them. "What town are you two from? Your clothes look mighty funny for where you are." Amelia looked to Donnie, not really knowing what to say to the old man. She was not really good at making things up.

Donnie knew that it was the man speaking the whole time, but Amelia was quite an interesting girl. Once in the carriage she was really embarrassed and her face got red. He thought it was cute and laughed, but stayed fairly quite during the ride. They had to be careful in different worlds. If the wrong people knew where they were really from, things could go bad. They absolutely could not get trapped in places like this. Donnie then realized they really had not much of an idea on how to get back.

"Oh we are from over seas," Donnie commented at the question. No matter what time or world, places would have seas, or something like seas, more than likly. It was a simple answer that he hoped would be sufficient.

Apparently it was. The driver nodded. "Funny ways you chaps are bringing over here. Well, I wish you the best of luck, but I must be on my way to stable the horse and meet my wife by sup. I've been on the road for quite a bit."

A bit more exchanges, and he was gone. Donnie waved and turned to Amelia. "This might be an odd question, but did you see the portal close up when we landed? I wasn't paying attention and if it did, I'm not sure how we're going to get home IF the professor is even here. Not... that we know where here is...," Donnie said as he trailed off and looked around.

Amelia was glad that Donnie could handle the people better then she could. She would most likely get raped or killed if she have any one else with her.

Amelia thought on Donnie's question. Did she see the portal close up? Was there even a portal there? Then she remembered that she did at least take pictures of the schemes and notes of the professor on the machine. If all else goes wrong then hopefully that could help them get home. Might take a bit of a while but at least they had some hope that way. "I took a picture of notes and stuff, not sure on the portal, though." She took out her phone and turned it on. Once on she looked through her phone which surprisingly worked. No signal, but she could look through her pictures. "See? Even if all else fails we have at least something to do while we are here. Try and rebuild the machine. I know it will be hard, but at least it's something right?" She gave Donnie a smile, her smile was true but she wasn't completely sure that they could rebuild it. She was more at comfort with the fact she would be with Donnie then the fact that she would be able to recreate a portal and go back to their world. With all this done, she knew their next step would be to find a place to live. The man talked of dinner, and that made Amelia hungry. Also made her think about what they would do for living situation.

The town looked old, and not many automobiles, Amelia started to wonder where they really were. It was an all around nice looking place. The only problem it seemed to have was factory smoke. Amelia truly loved all the old buildings they were seeing. Amelia's mind went back to the real problem at hand when her stomach growled. Her cheeks got a bit red, at the noise but still had to ask the big question; "What are we going to do about life here. It is obvious we are going to be here for a long time." She was excited at the idea of them living together, but was unsure of how everything was going to be. Back in their universe they needed everything to get to a job, lots of information on yourself. Here they had none of that and if they need it their life will not go as good as she dreams of.
