Good Reads For College Kids | #1
Hey everyone, I'm in college atm with not a lot of time for reading, which makes me sad, with only the internet and my school library to as sources for new material. Does anyone have any suggestions for quick, fun, interesting reads I might find in the library? And by quick, a couple hundred pages could do. I can knock that out in a day or so.
What I like: Fantasy Magical-Realism Biographies of Actors/Entertainers Silly Romances Feel good books Mystery (if well done) Thank you :D Pandas=Awesomeness

Are you taking any courses that involve novels or any of those ideas?
Also, what's your preferred reading level? Do you object to younger reading for instance? The Narnia books are the first thing I think of when it comes to Magic Realism because they illustrate the concept nicely. The actual "I Am Legend" is not a bad read for the post apocalyptic stuff, and it's quote short, really a novella. The movie is actually quite different, and the "legend" part makes more sense to me in the book. I read both books (The Magician's Nephew and I Am Legend) as part of my curriculum at University. Most of what I read now it pretty darn fat so nothing else immediately comes to mind.

I have no objection to younger reading levels as long as the book itself is good. As for I Am Legend... if the dog dies in the book too I will not read it. For some reason I can't stand dogs dying in fiction of any kind. I've read the first Narnia book so that's definitely a good suggestion.
Unfortunately, my major atm is so science/math based I don't have the time for any literature classes. It makes me sad because I thought college was supposed to be about making you a well-rounded individual, not just shoving whatever fit your major best into your schedule. Pandas=Awesomeness

It is for some majors but a lot of them just try to drive you crazy with work.
It isn't on your list but a biography that I found interesting is Confessions of a working Girl: A true story. It is about a college girl who became a call girl to get money and it became her profession. If you don't mind sex in a novel it is interesting and gives a lot of girls in college a view of what they think would be an easy job.

Can't remember what happens to the dog in the novel, but it's not a puppy that his family just got before nastiness happens. It's a stray he happens to take in that is in bad shape to begin with. He's not a scientist, I don't think he's out to cure anything, and he does not sit on a desk at the harbour waiting to talk to more people.
