Worried and mad | #1 | |
So my hubby and I have been in our apartment for 1 and a half years now. Our lease is up in November. We don't cause trouble, pay our rent on time, and stay to ourselves.
We have always had an issue with cleaning up with the cleaning. We aren't trashy people but it could look alot better in here. I recently got a new job thanks to my hubby working 3rd shift so I'm either working or sleeping.. His shift is 4pm to 1am...so he have more time to cleean but doesn't want to wake me up. He got a voice mail from the office saying that a neighbor had reported us and that some time this coming week would be out for an inspection. I'm freaking pissed off. I'm starting to really hate this place and want out. A few months back our dish washer needed to be replaced and well because of the idiot who lived here before WE had to PAY for the new dish washer. We didn't have any troubles untill this newest "manager" came in. I want to yell and scream at my hubby because everytime we try to clean I ask him where do you want me to put something he is like "ummm I don't know, I'll get to it later" and never does.. I'll keep you updated on what happens..

ah procrastination is a LOVELY trait.
Really that's stupid. When you're living in a apartment, the COMPANY HAS to pay for anything that breaks down. NOT you. I don't know if there's anything you can do about that anymore, but you can at least try to convince your husband to cease with the "wait till later" stuff. OR, if he can't make a decision, then just take over and put things where YOU want them to go. He can't complain if he won't get up and help.

Ah, I had a neighbor pull that one me too, I'd recently gone from third shift grunt to third shift manager so I was working 12 hours out of every 24. My house was already messy cause I'm like that, and then it just went downhill fast. I bribed a couple friends to come over and help me, and if I didn't recognize the item they asked about, or hadn't used it in a year I got rid of it. So, maybe you should threaten him with that. Make a huge pile of his things, tell him he has one day to get it put away nicely or it's getting donated. If he really wants it he'll get it, if he doesn't someone else might need it.

Uhm, yeah, you should look into getting reimbursed for that dishwasher. If you're renting an apartment, everything that came with it is supposed to be taken care of by the landlord/maintenance. We had issues with our dishwasher, and maintenance fixed it right up for us. Of course the landlord is going to try to squeeze whatever they can out of you, but you don't have to let them step all over you.
As far as the cleaning thing, I'd go with Fey's idea. For my boyfriend, I pile up everything of his that he has laying about on his computer desk and chair so that he's forced to deal with it before he can go back to his favorite activity.
